Provider's corrective action:
  • The following statements were received from the registered provider; General Safety: 1. The cots in Sleep room 1 and Sleep room 3 have been moved to ensure that they are not in front of the fire exit doors, under the window or placed beside the radiator. Management will carry out checks to ensure that cots are suitably positioned to ensure the safety of the sleeping children. 2. The perished foam on the three outdoor support beams of the covered area have been replaced. Staff will review regularly to make sure that they are in good condition and fit for purpose ensuring the safety of the children event of an accident or injury. Staff will check daily and replace as required. Infection Control: 3. Staff have been informed of the need to ensure that soothers are sterilised after use. A sterilising system for soothers is now in place daily to prevent the risk of infection. The inspector was shown a sterilising tree by the designated person in charge, suitable for use in the microwave, on the afternoon of inspection which had been reinstated. 4. All cots were cleaned on 1 July 2026 and a new cleaning schedule is in place. A meeting was held with all staff members and cots will be sanitised and cleaned thoroughly after each use. 5. The air vent in the upstairs toilet was cleaned and has been added to the weekly cleaning schedule. 6. The two pedal operated bins have been replaced in the Digger’s care room. Staff will check to ensure these are working properly and report any issues as they arise. Safe Sleep: 7. An adult is now stationed in Sleep room 1 to ensure the safety of the sleeping children. The service policy has been updated to reflect the change in practice

Management will conduct a daily risk assessment in order to action any potential safety issues.   • The following statements were received from the registered provider; General Safety: 1. The radiator cover was removed and has been replaced. Staff will check on a daily basis to ensure that it is in good working order and report any issues which will be dealt with by the registered provider. 2. The yellow panel containing the nail has been repaired in the outdoor perimeter fencing. A daily risk assessment will be carried out to identify any risk and these will be actioned by the registered provider. 3. The hula hoops in the outdoor play area were removed. Staff will ensure that a daily assessment is carried out of all the outdoor equipment to identify and remedy any faulty equipment. Infection Control: 4. The two vinyl sofas were removed from the area along with the square pouffe and replaced with new soft furnishings. 5. The dressing up outfits will be washed regularly and this will be recorded on the cleaning schedule. All staff will ensure that they are hung up after use

Provider's corrective action:
  • General Safety: 1. The 7 highchairs in the main care room have been removed and are now stored out of reach of the children. The highchairs will be brought into the care room for mealtimes only and removed immediately when the children are finished their food. New age and stage appropriate chairs have been purchased for the younger children. 2. The fairy lights have been removed and the lava lamp flex has been made inaccessible to the children. 3. The basketball stand, car and tricycle have been removed from the outdoor play area. Fire Safety: 4. The ongoing electrical and civil works have been completed. Illuminated fire exit signage has now been installed throughout the building. 5. All fire doors and windows have now been fitted and a letter of confirmation of same has been attached from the engineer confirming same. Safe Sleep: 6. Physical 10-minute sleep checks are now being carried out and documented by staff on children aged over 2 years of age sleeping and resting in the main care room. 7. Children under 2 years of age now have access to cots in the designated sleep room, ensuring the safety of the children while sleeping/resting on a daily basis. Additional suitable sleep equipment has been placed on order. 8. All sleep equipment is now supplied with the correct bed linen fitted to the size of the mat, bed or cot in use. Staff will ensure that each piece of sleep equipment is supplied with appropriately sized sheets and bedding. 9. Staff have been informed of the need to ensure that all sleep equipment is placed at least 50 centimetres apart in order to prevent the spread of infection. Infection Control: 10. Three new waterproof mattresses have been purchased along with suitable sleep equipment for children under 2 years of age. 11. Two new large fridges have been purchased to ensure that perishable food is stored correctly. 12. Four new foot pedal bins have been installed to prevent the spread of infection and cross contamination

  • Fire Safety: 1. The registered provider stated that they are awaiting a response from the fire officer. General Safety: 2. Secure devices were fitted to both the large metal gate at the front of the service and the gate at the rear of the service on 29/04/2026 to ensure the safety of the children. A risk assessment will be carried out by staff prior to children playing in the outdoor areas to ensure that no unauthorised adults can enter the area while the children are on the premises. 3. The damaged mark making board has been removed from the area. 4. A secure device has been fitted to the adult toilet to ensure that the children cannot access the area. Staff will check to ensure that the door remains secured while the children are present in the service. 5. Cleaning agents have been removed and stored in a secure cupboard out of reach of the children. Infection Control: 6. A new changing unit and nappy changing mat are now in use. 7. Single use disposable aprons are now in place in the sanitary area for use by the adults, if required. Staff will ensure that a new apron is put on prior to each child being changed in order to prevent cross contamination. 8. The wheelie bins were moved into the shed which is secured and inaccessible to the children. They have been added to the daily risk assessment which will be checked by staff prior to the children being allowed in the area

  • The following statements were received from the registered provider; General Safety: 1. Garda vetting renewals are now on file for the 5 adults whose garda vetting had expired. In future, all garda vetting will be regularly checked to ensure compliance. Renewals will be carried out three months prior to expiry. 2. A plumber was called and the hot water in the wash hand basins in the children’s sanitary area on the ground floor was rectified. All hot water in the wash hand basins have been thermostatically controlled to ensure the correct temperature range and these will be checked regularly. 3. When informed the flex from the air conditioning unit in sleep room 2 was secured, out of reach of the children. The manager stated that staff will ensure that no flexes or cords are accessible to the children. Infection Control: 4. The nappy changing bin in the Junior Toddler sanitary area was replaced before the service opened on day 2 of inspection. A spare nappy changing bin will be kept in the service to ensure that there is no risk of cross infection in the event that there is a broken bin which requires replacing

  • General Safety: 1. Garda vetting submissions have been made in respect of the three adults for whom they were required. A checklist table has been created to ensure that all garda vetting renewals and course expiry dates are renewed prior to expiry. Management will review the checklist table on a monthly basis and to ensure any required documentation is in date and will follow up with staff to submit prior to expiry to ensure compliance. 2. Storage shelves have been added in the Nursery and Junior Playschool nappy changing areas to prevent children from accessing plastic gloves, nappy sacks, and plastic aprons. 3. The highchairs in the Nursery care room have been removed while the children are playing. They are put in place for mealtimes only and removed when the children have finished eating. Infection Control: 4. New soft furnishings have been ordered for the Senior Nursery and Junior Playschool care rooms. 5. A new pedal operated nappy bin has been ordered for Junior Playschool sanitary area. Staff have reminded to complete risk assessment of these areas daily and inform management of any broken equipment or areas of concern

  • The following statements were received from the registered provider: Fire Safety: 1. The children were moved on the day of inspection from the portacabin into the main building which had a hard-wired smoke detection system and firefighting equipment, where they will remain until the issue is resolved. An engineer was engaged and work was completed on the 3 March 2026 to install the fire detection system and the firefighting equipment. 2. The two doors identified as fire exits, in the portacabin, have been fitted with thumb twist cylinders to facilitate the safe evacuation of children and adults in the event of an emergency. General Safety: 3. The damaged floor coverings in the two pre-school care rooms have been replaced. 4. The cleaning materials in the Senior and Junior care rooms have been placed out of reach of children. 5. The two exposed screws at the entrance to the Baby care room play area were removed by the registered provider when informed on the day of inspection. 6. The panel in the rear play area has been replaced. A daily risk assessment of the outdoor play area will be carried out to ensure the area it is safe prior to the children being allowed access to the outdoor areas. 7. The two accessible electrical flexes in the Baby 2 care room have been secured. 8. The internal floor mat, located at the exit door from the main building to the Baby 1 care room, has been removed. Infection Control: 9. The nappy changing bin in use in the Baby care room 2 sanitary area has been replaced. 10. Provider's corrective action:
  • General Safety: The designated sleep room was reorganized immediately to reduce potential risks and ensure a safe environment for children. 1. Stackable beds are now placed flat on the floor and safely stacked one on top of another when not in use. 2. The box of blinds was removed following the installation of blinds on the windows. 3. & 4. The electric heater was removed from the childcare service and the staff members personal belongings will be left in their cars or in the locker unit that has been ordered. Management will monitor the organization of the sleep room to ensure ongoing compliance with safety requirements. 5. Temperature control dials were removed from the radiators in the playroom to prevent access by the children. 6. The cable from the electrical printing device was secured correctly to eliminate any risk to the children. 7. The box and lamp were replaced safely. A new storage unit for the children’s belongings has been ordered. Daily safety checks of the sleep room will be carried out to ensure the area remains free from hazards. 8. Staff were informed of the importance of storing soothers in each child’s individual designated container before and after use. Infection Control: 9. Perishable food items such as yoghurt and cheese are now stored in the service refrigerator upon the child’s arrival and provided at the first snack time. 10. The designated sleep room was re organized immediately following inspection to reduce the risks of cross infection. 11. Staff were instructed to remove waste bags that were full immediately and replace them with new bag. 12. Bed sheets are removed daily and stored in a designated storage unit. 13. &14. Bin liners and brown paper were removed from under cots and stored in a designated area. 15. A dedicated storage unit with closed shelving was purchased for children’s bedding, soothers and personal items. 16. & 17. Printers, fan, adult footwear and a child’s car seat were removed from the designated sleep room. 18. The frayed nappy changing mat was replaced with a new one. 19. Cots will be deep cleaned weekly in the service in addition to daily cleaning routines. 20. Used gloves and aprons will be disposed of immediately in the designated waste bin. 21. Staff were informed of the importance of storing soothers in each child’s designated container before after use. Safe Sleep: 22. Room temperature is now checked regularly to ensure it remains within the required range. 23. A new temperature monitoring device was ordered and arrived the day after the inspection. 24. Three waterproof cot mattress covers were purchased to allow effective cleaning between uses. 25. The childrens parents will provide appropriate cellular blankets for the children under 12 months of age and additional blankets were purchased by the service for the designated sleep room. Fire Safety: 26. Fire drill records were identified and relocated to the correct folders to ensure easy access for all staff members. Fire drills will be carried out and recorded on a regular basis in line with fire safety requirements and the management of the service will monitor the fire safety records to ensure they are maintained correctly going forward

  • The following statements were received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action 1. The rug at the exit door to the outdoor play area in the ECCE 2 care room has been replaced and no longer poses a tripping hazard. 2. The glazing company has been out to measure the replacement glass which will be replaced when manufactured. 3. The circular table in the ECCE 2 outdoor play area has been removed eliminating the risk of a child coming into contact with the splintered wood. 4. The electrical flex from a hanging light in the ECCE 2 care room was removed by a staff member when informed on the inspection. This hazard has been added to the daily risk checklist to address by staff if observed in the care rooms

  • The following statements were received from the registered provider: General Safety: 1. All of the safety issues identified on the Immediate Action Notice (IAN) have been addressed to ensure the safety of the children attending the service; • No hot liquid food will be served by children to minimise risk of spillage. The adults will serve the porridge once it has cooled down. • The porridge pots are now covered with heat resistant covers and placed out of reach of the children. • The lit wax candle, in use at mealtimes and only lit when all of the children are seated, is now fully encased in a lantern and placed out of reach of the children. • Staff received training on the new benefits risk assessment and a risk assessment and analysis to ensure the safety of the children. The children have received information on fire safety. 2. The roof of the outdoor playhouse has been replaced. The materials used will ensure the longevity of the playhouse. Safe Sleep: 3. All of the safety issues identified on the Immediate Action Notice (IAN) have been addressed to ensure the safety of the children attending the service in relation to safe sleep. The wooden gates have been removed from the service, the room has been reorganised and a designated sleep area has been arranged in a quiet area with 2 waterproof sleep mats available. A 10-minute physical sleep record is now available for recording the position, colour, breathing of each child and the room temperature. Administration of Medication: 4. Temperature reducing medication has been purchased and is available in the event of an emergency in the service. It is stored in a locked cabinet out of reach of the children. The details of the temperature reducing medication including the expiry date have been added to the first aid checklist and will be checked regularly. Infection Control: 5. The communal bowl at the outside water station has been removed to prevent the risk of cross infection. 6. Perishable food is removed from the children’s lunch boxes and stored in the fridge

The registered provider will ensure that there are no bait boxes accessible to the children in the service. 3. The adult sized dolls houses in the ECCE and Playschool care rooms have been anchored to prevent them falling or tipping over. All heavy equipment or free-standing furniture will be secured or removed from the care rooms. 4. A new apron dispenser with aprons has been installed along with a pedal operated, lined, sealed and lidded nappy bin in the Playschool sanitary area. 5. A new shelf has been purchased and placed on the wall of the Playschool care room, out of reach of the children. In future all cleaning agents will be stored on a high shelf, inaccessible by the children. 6. The shape sorter with a wide crack accessible to children in the Wobbler care room was removed on the day of inspection. All toys will be risk assessed and removed if broken. 7. Talcum powder, nappy sacks and individual children’s creams in the Toddler changing area have been removed and placed in drawers, out of the reach of children. 8. The blue slide has been removed from the outdoor play area and a replacement has been ordered. A daily risk assessment will be carried on the outdoor play area in the future. 9. A new handrail has been installed offering support and safety to children climbing the gradient to the outdoor play areas at the rear of the service. 10. The hazards on the outdoor walls of the building within the courtyard have all been removed. The outdoor area will risk assessed on a daily basis to ensure the safety of the children playing in the area. Infection Control: 11. The wire bead maze was removed on the day of inspection. Daily risk assessments will be carried out to ensure that all of the toys and equipment are clean in the Toddler care room. 12. A new nappy changing bin which is pedal operated, lined, lidded and sealed is in place in the Toddler nappy changing area to prevent the spread of cross infection. 13. Microwave sterilisers are now available for the Wobbler and Toddler care rooms to prevent cross infection. Staff will ensure that soothers are sterilised throughout the day and as required. 14. A new apron dispenser and a supply of single use aprons have been installed in the nappy changing area of the Playschool sanitary area. Management will ensure that there are an adequate supply of aprons and gloves in each nappy changing area. 15. A new pedal operated, lidded, lined and sealed nappy changing bin is now in use in the ECCE sanitary area, helping to reduce the risk of cross infection. Safe Sleep: 16. New sleep record books are now in use for each child. The registered provider will ensure that all required elements are completed for each of the 10-minute physical sleep checks recorded for each child to ensure the safety of the children while sleeping. 17. The cot has been removed from under the window. Management will ensure that no cots are placed under a window. 18. Staff have removed large items of toys to ensure that there is sufficient room for the stackable beds. All stackable beds are now placed 50 centimetres apart to ensure the safety of the children and for supervision reasons

A new sealed, pedal operated and lined nappy bin has been purchased and placed in the sanitary area. Staff will ensure the bin is emptied daily. 12. Single use disposable aprons are available in the nappy changing area. 13. A new fridge is now available in the care room for storing perishable food to prevent it from spoiling. 14. The plates will be washed in the school kitchen at a time designated by the school principal. 15. Staff ensure the bins are emptied daily, or as required, to prevent the risk of cross infection. Administration of Medication: 16. Temperature reducing medication is now available in the event of an emergency. Fire Safety: 17. A new fire sign has been erected on the school grounds which is visible from the service to guide staff and children to a safe place in the event of a fire or emergency

  • General Safety: 1. Evidence that a system was in place to ensure staff close and secure the outdoor gates when children were accessing the outdoor play area was submitted. The double gates will be closed each time the children are coming to or going from the outdoor play area to the pre-school. This practice will be implemented at all times when the children are moving between the outdoor area and pre-school. Infection Control: 2. The children will wash their hands after outdoor play before they go home each day. The staff have been advised to ensure children wash their hands, after outdoor play. 3. A nappy-changing record will be kept of each child when their nappy has been changed. A nappy changing unit has been purchased. 4. Dispensers for the storage of disposable aprons, gloves and hand towels have been installed. 5. The mechanical ventilation units will be included in the cleaning schedule. 6.
