Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment

  • (2)(a) Two written references from a past employer for one adult were not validated. (c) International police vetting was not available for 1 adult who lived and worked in another state for a period longer than 6 months while over the age of 18 years
Provider's corrective action:
  • On the 9/06/2025 and 10/06/2025 the registered provider advised of the following. Corrective and Preventive Action (2)(a) The two written references were validated immediately. The person in charge will ensure all files are reviewed and checked before an employee or student commences work in the service. (c) An application was made for police vetting for one adult. They will ensure that all staff or student files will be checked appropriately before commencement of work in the preschool

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: (1) The water in the wash hand basin used by three children in the playroom on the day of inspection was not thermostatically controlled. The reading was greater than the recommended temperature of 43 °C this poses a risk of scalding a preschool child. The wa ter temperature was reading 45. 4°C. at 11.33am. Action submitted by the Registered Provider On the 9/06/2025 and 10/06/2025 the registered provider advised of the following Corrective & Preventive Action General Safety: 1. A new thermostat was installed to control and regulat e the hot water in the wash hand basin in the playroom. The service will keep a record of the temperature of the water each day to make sure the correct temperature is maintained for the preschool children. Supporting documentation submitted General Safety: A photograph of the new thermostat was submitted. Summary Comment The inspector has reviewed the actions and evidence submitted. The non -compliance identified under Regulation 23 General Safety point 1 has been adequately addressed

Regulation 26 — Fire safety measures

  • (1)(b) There was no evidence of a n annual service or maintenance of the fire detection alarm system since it was installed in March 2023. This poses a potential safety risk to the staff and children in the preschool service
Provider's corrective action:
  • On 9/06/2025 and 10/09/2025 the registered provider advised of the following. Corrective and Preventive Action A service of the fire detection and alarm system was carried out by a competent person and a service certificate was issued to the preschool. An annual service will be organised each year going forward and records maintained

Regulation 29 — Premises

  • (d) The painted floor at the entrance to the preschool service was worn and required maintenance and repainting
Provider's corrective action:
  • On 9/06/2025 and 10/06/2025 the registered provider advised of the following. Corrective and Preventive Action The floor at the entrance to the preschool has been painted and maintained. The flooring at the entrance to the preschool has been added to the daily risk assessment now. A regular check will be kept on the floor surface to ensure it is clean and maintained
