Dolphins Early Education and Childcare Centre, Dunshaughlin · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) One staff member only was trained in FAR training. From a review of the staff roster this staff member is not available in the service at all times during the operational hours of the service. It is acknowledged that several staff members had in date paediatric first aid training
Provider's corrective action:
- Corrective Action (1) The assistant manager and two supervisors will be sent on the FAR training course in May so therefore there will always be a staff member on site that is FAR trained at all times. The staff are able to query courses and put themselves forward for courses. Preventive Action (1) Regular checks on staff files

The Village Preschool, Moynalty, Kells · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) A review of staff files and the staff roster for weeks beginning 16th March and 23rd March demonstrated that a person trained in FAR (First Aid Response) was not at all times available to children in attendance as follows; • The one staff member who is trained in FAR has their lunch break daily from 12 midday to 1pm. During this time, there is no staff member trained in FAR immediately available to the children
Provider's corrective action:
- The staff member with FAR training has agreed to take her lunch break on the premises. FAR training is booked for summer break. Two further educators will be trained; there will be 3 educators in total with FAR training

The Village Preschool Nobber, Nobber · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) A review of staff files and the staff roster for weeks beginning 23rd February 2026 demonstrated that a person trained in FAR (First Aid Response) was not available to children in attendance as follows; Monday 8am to 9am, Tuesday 8am to 9am and Wednesday 8am to 9am. The roster for the week beginning 02 March 2026 detailed the same staff member had been rostered for the above hours, however it is acknowledged they were off sick that week, and the staff who replaced them had FAR(First Aid Response) in- date certificates
Provider's corrective action:
- The roster has been updated to ensure that there is always an educator present with FAR. More educators will be trained in FAR training in the summer of 2026, making Rosters easier to manage

Home from Home Daycare, Ratoath · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) A person trained in first aid including first aid responder (FAR) training was not immediately available to the children attending the pre-school service as evidenced in the staff roster and the in-date FAR certifications provided for inspection. One staff member had in date FAR certification only and was not present in the service for the entire operational hours. Eight staff members have in date paediatric first aid training
Provider's corrective action:
- Corrective Action (1) Registered provider is renewing current FAR trained staff’s certificate and have 3 more staff signed up to complete FAR training by the 13th of April 2026. Preventive Action (1) Registered provider will ensure to always have minimum 2 staff members FAR trained at all times and will be more mindful of expiry dates

- (1) The registered provider submitted documentation that a current FAR certificate had been obtained and that it would be renewed prior to expiration in the future

- (1) The registered provider had not ensured that a person trained in first aid for children is, at all times, immediately available to the children attending the pre-school service. The one staff member who holds in date FAR training was rostered to work until 4.30pm on three days of the week of the inspection and was rostered to be off on leave for two days. It is acknowledged that a person with in date Paediatric First Aid training is present from 8.15 to 5.15pm daily on the weekly roster reviewed
Provider's corrective action:
- (1) The roster was reviewed immediately, and qualified staff member was willing to reschedule leave. New staff member with FAR hired into the service. Registered provider booked FAR training immediately for x 8 staff members and this has commenced. Total of 10 staff members will be FAR trained by end of month to ensure no gaps on the roster

Maria's Montessori, Drumree · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1)No staff member had First Aid Responder (FAR) training. This was found to be non-compliant at the last inspection on 14/6/2022. The Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) response submitted by the registered provider after the last inspection stated that “A FAR course had been booked for September/October 2022”. The FAR certificate was reviewed on the day of the inspection with indicated that the training had since expired on 05/11/2024. An Immediate Action Notice was issued to the registered provider on the day of inspection, and a response was received which was reviewed and accepted by the inspectorate
Provider's corrective action:
- One staff member has completed a FAR course. The registered provider will ensure that 1 staff member with FAR training is on duty at all times while the service is in operation

The Grange Preschool And Early Years Centre, Drogheda · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) Based on a review of staff first aid qualifications, it was evident that a person who had undertaken first aid response (FAR) training was not available to the children attending the service at all times. For example, from 7.30am to 8.15am on the day of the inspection none of the staff members held in-date FAR training. It is acknowledged that, in advance of the inspection, the registered providers had booked for up to 8 staff members to attend FAR training on 05/04/2025, 12/04/2025 and 17/05/2025, as evidenced in email correspondence reviewed by the inspectors on the day of inspection
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated the following corrective actions and preventive actions have been carried out: Corrective Action (1) There are 4 staff members working at the service with in-date First Aid Responders (FAR) training (of whom 3 will expire in April 2026 and 1 will expire in September 2025). There are 10 other staff members with in-date paediatric first aid. The roster has been updated to ensure the 4 staff with FAR are working at times to ensure there is someone on site from 7.30am – 6.00pm. Preventive Action (1) Eight staff members are currently undergoing FAR training which will be completed on 17/05/2025. As per the inspection report this training had been booked prior to the inspection

- The registered provider stated the following corrective actions and preventive actions have been carried out: Corrective Action (2)(a)(b) The first aid box has been updated with the items that were missing. The box will be checked regularly to make sure everything is up to date

- The registered provider is planning to complete the ‘First Aid Responders’ training course in December 2024 and will share further details once booking made, as well as course is completed, with the evidence. Will make sure to review the First Aid Responders training course status and renewal timeframe and will arrange for refresher/renewed training course

- Corrective Action Staff have been enrolled in FAR course and will have up to date training in place by early May 2024. Preventive Action Ensure training records are checked biannually so they are kept up to date

- (1) Two staff members will complete First Aid Response training on February 24th. The final FAR certificates will be sent to the Early Years Inspector on receipt of them. Preventative actions: The registered provider stated that they are on a notification list with a training provider and will receive reminders in advance of when training is due to be renewed
