Claremount Early Learning and Childcare Centre Limited, Claremorris · Regulation 25 — First aid
- On the day of inspection, there was no person trained in First Aid Responder on the premises and available to the children during the operational hours of the service. There were 2 staff trained in First Aid Responder, one of the staff members was rostered off for the week and the second trained staff member was rostered to work from 07.45 to 16.45 on the day of inspection. The service is open from 7.45 to 18:00 hour each day. This posed a risk to the children and staff attending in the event of an emergency
Provider's corrective action:
- There are three staff members trained in first aid responder and will one staff member will be on the premises at all times during the operational hours of the service

- (b) The first aid box was not adequate for the children attending the pre-school service on the day of inspection. The first aid box did not contain appropriate first aid supplies for minor injuries to be treated within the service due to product’s being out of date. The following products was out of date • Sterile eye pads • Sterile unmedicated sterile dressings (large, medium and small) • Water-based burns dressings - small • Water-based burns dressing – large • Individually wrapped disinfectant wipes The following items where available for the preschool children • Pocket face mask
Provider's corrective action:
- The first aid box has been sufficiently stocked with the required items. The first aid box will be checked regularly and items replaced as necessary. Out of date items will be disposed of

Mahony Montessori School, Foxford · Regulation 25 — First aid
- There was no person with first aid training immediately available to the children in the service and an Immediate Action Notice was issued to the registered provider on the 29 January 2026 in relation to this. The registered provider submitted a response on the 30 January 2026 with evidence that a paediatric first aid course had been undertaken by a staff member on the 29 January 2026 as a short-term measure. Evidence that the required FAR course had been organised for a staff member to commence on the 1 February 2026 was also submitted
- (a) There were no eye pads with bandages available in the first aid equipment bag
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider advised in writing that: Corrective and Preventive Action
- A staff member completed a Paediatric First Aid course on the 29 January 2026 and completed FAR course training on 14 March 2026. In future FAR training will be kept up to date. (2)(a) Eye pads with bandages are now in the first aid box

- (1) There was no adult with First Aid Response (FAR) training available in the service on the day of the inspection. It is acknowledged that some of the staff members present on the day held paediatric first aid training, but this training does not meet the regulatory requirements

- The service advised in a written response that:
- Corrective and Preventive Action Another member of staff undertook a FAR training during the summer so the service will have two staff members with FAR training. The service will ensure that a member of staff with FAR is always on site

Provider's corrective action:
- The first aid box was replenished to ensure full contents were available to the children attending the service. A monthly first aid stock check has been added to the Health and Safety maintenance check list and a new policy for checking and updating the first aid box has been put in place

- (1) No person trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) was available to the children attending the pre-school service on the day of inspection. One staff member had paediatric first aid. (2) The first aid box did not contain the appropriate quantit y of first aid supplies. There were two plasters available which was not sufficient for the number of children attending the service. Sterile water was not present in the first aid box

- The registered provider advised in writing that: Corrective and Preventive Action (2) (a) and (b) The first aid kits have all been reviewed and restocked with the required supplies by management. The room leaders will review the first aid boxes on a more regular basis

- The registered provider purchased the required missing items for the first aid box. A monthly check will be completed to ensure the first aid box has the required contents

- (2) The first aid box did not contain the appropriate first aid supplies. Two individually wrapped triangular bandages were not in date on the day of inspection. A water based burns dressing in size small and large were not present in the first aid box
Provider's corrective action:
- (2) The water-based burns dressings were replaced in the first aid box. A regular review of the first aid box will take place

- (1) None of the staff in the service held the required up to date First Aid Responder (FAR) training course at the time of the inspection. It is acknowledged that evidence was available to show that one staff member was enrolled to renew their First Aid Responder (FAR) training course for later in October 2024
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider advised in writing that:
- Corrective and Preventive Action One of the staff members was registered on a First Aid Response (FAR) course the week following the inspection (11, 12 and 14 October 2024 ) and completed the training. A second staff member has been enrolled on FAR training in early December 2024. An arranged first aid course had been cancelled previously and the next available one was for the 11, 12 and 14 October 2024). In future the registered provider will have sourced more courses
