Little Acorns Montessori, Athlone · Regulation 25 — First aid
- There were no adults qualified in First Aid response (FAR) and available on the premises during the hours of operation which posed a risk if a child should require first aid treatment. It is acknowledged that the FAR training had expired on the 1 3 April 2026 and the registered providers emailed the Early Years Inspector after the inspection stating they will commence FAR training on the 18 May 2026
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered providers have scheduled to commence a FAR training course on the 18 May in Athlone, Co. Westmeath. The registered providers will ensure that the FAR course will be completed one month prior to its renewal date in the future

- (1) There were no staff members present from 7:00 – 7:30 am who were trained in in first aid response (FAR) and were immediately available to the children attending the service
Provider's corrective action:
- (1) A change of circumstances form has been submitted to amend opening hours

- (1) Staff members present who trained in in first aid response (FAR) were not immediately available to the children attending the service from 14:00 – 15:30 hours Monday and Thursday and 13:00 – 15:30 hours Tuesday and Friday following review of the daily staff attendance record for the service. It is acknowledged that the staff are qualified in paediatric first aid
Provider's corrective action:
- (1) A staff member will complete FAR training during summer break. There is another staff member trained in in first aid response (FAR) who will temporarily work during the uncovered hours until the other staff member has the training completed

Juniper Tree Autism Services Ltd T/A Sundancers, Castlepollard · Regulation 25 — First aid
- There was no adult present on the day of the inspection who held a First Aid Responder training certificate. This posed a risk to the safety of children if first aid was required. An immediate action notice was issued to the registered provider under Regulation 23 Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child in relation to this non compliance
- The first aid box was not equipped in line with TUSLA Quality Regulatory Framework document. • There were no wound dressings available. • The normal saline expired in April 2024
Provider's corrective action:
- A FAR Course was immediately sourced for 1 staff member, starting on 16th May 2025 (two days after inspection) consisting of 3 Friday Sessions to end on 30th May 2025. A person trained in first aid for children was on site from 15th to 30th May inclusive. Management to ensure all staff are trained in First Aid for Children. Regular checks to be made to ensure all First Aid for Children Certificates are up to date
- The first aid box was checked. 1 wound dressing was immediately replaced. The saline was also replaced. Management to be informed immediately if replacements are needed

Ballymore Community Childcare Facility, Mullingar · Regulation 25 — First aid
- Bandages had expired in November 2023 in the first aid box in the Cheery Blossom room. This was at variance with the first aid box checklist dated 8 April 2025
Provider's corrective action:
- The expired bandages have been removed. They have been replaced with fresh supplies of bandages. The Health and Safety Officer will conduct a checklist within each room for every First Aid Box

- The person qualified in First Aid Response (FAR) was not available on the premises
Provider's corrective action:
- • The person in charge is qualified in First Aid Response (FAR) and rostered to be on duty during the hours of operation for the service. (Roster included) ( FAR certificate included) • The deputy designated person in charge has been enrolled on a First Aid Response (FAR) programme to provide a second FAR qualified staff member in the service. The training is due to commence on 21/05/2024 (Confirmation of training place included). The FAR certificate will be forwarded to the Inspectorate upon receipt. • Another staff member qualified in First Aid Response (FAR) is available to be called upon if the person in charge is on leave. (FAR certificate included). Summary Comment In respect of the corrective action taken documentary evidence was submitted to the office of the Early Years Inspectorate, reviewed by the Early Years Inspector and deemed to meet the regulatory requirement
