- (1) There was no staff member present with in date first aid responder (FAR) training. It is acknowledged that one staff member’s accreditation for FAR had just expired on 18 December 2025 and the registered provider described how they had great difficulty in obtaining refresher training. It is acknowledged that the registered provider demonstrated to the inspector that FAR training and refresher FAR training had been obtained for the following dates 17, 18, 19 February 2026 and 5, 12, 19 March 2026
Provider's corrective action:
- First Aid Responder (FAR) training and refresher FAR training have been obtained for the following dates 17, 18, 19 February 2026 and 5, 12, 19 March 2026. The registered provider will forward certificates of accreditation once the courses are completed

- (1) On review of staff files and in discussion with the designated person in charge, it was evident that no staff member employed in the service was qualified in Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) approved First Aid Responder (FAR) training, as is the regulatory requirement of the inspectorate. An Immediate Action Notice (IAN) was issued under Regulation 23 for this safety risk
Provider's corrective action:
- An adequate response to the IAN was submitted by the registered provider on the 29 June 2024 confirming that four staff members were booked in for PHECC FAR training on the 19, 21, and 23 August 2024. The following corrective and preventive action was submitted by the registered provider. Four staff members completed FAR training on the week of 9/9/24. Training was completed on the 13/09/2024. We will continue staff training in Far throughout the course of 2024 and 2025
