- (1) The certificates on file for the two staff trained in FAR had expired on 07 March 2025 and 21 March 2025. It is acknowledged that the person in charge confirmed that FAR training is scheduled for May 2025 for one staff member
Provider's corrective action:
- One staff member will start FAR training on Tuesday 13th May. Set a reminder on playschool device to remind us of when FAR training will need to be renewed

- (2) (a) (b) The first aid box did not contain sufficient materials for the number of children in attendance. Items were noted to have passed their expiry date which included eye patches, sterile dressings, and bandages
Provider's corrective action:
- First Aid boxes have been updated. Reminder set to replenish expired items

Happy Hours Community Playgroup Ltd, Ballinagh · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (b) The first aid box reviewed on the day of inspection contained inadequate materials for the number of children attending the service. The items that were available, which included antifebrile medication, were past the expiry date
Provider's corrective action:
- The manager and the first aid officer went through the first aid kit and removed anything that was out of date. A new first aid kit was purchased with contents for 26-50 people. The first aid kit will be checked yearly by the manager and the first aid officer before reopening in September. Anything that has expired will be removed and new equipment will be purchased

- (2)(b) The first aid boxes on the premises were not suitably equipped. The majority of the wound dressings, eye pads and saline solution provided in the first aid boxes in Montessori Room 1, Montessori Room 2 and the Baby Room were out-of-date
Provider's corrective action:
- First aid boxes are restocked with bandages that are in date. Check dates on all bandages and note when they need to be changed

Bailieborough Community Resource House, Bailieborough · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) There was only one staff member trained in First Aid Response (FAR) which was insufficient. This staff member was reported to work Monday to Friday 09:00hrs to 17.30hrs however there was a gap between 08.30hrs to 09:00hrs each day where a staff member trained in FAR was not available to the children attending the pre-school service in the event of an emergency
Provider's corrective action:
- Corrective Action Staff member hours of work have changed from 08.30hrs to 17.30hrs so that there is a staff member trained in FAR is available in the event of an emergency. Preventative Action Far training is being organised for 4 more members of staff. Summary Comment The response from the registered provider has been accepted. The manager has provided assurance that a staff member trained in First Aid Response will be on the premises at all times as per regulatory requirements. Regulation 25 has been addressed
