- (1) The staff roster demonstrated that on 11.2.’26 there was no staff member present with completed first aid responder (FAR) training. It was acknowledged 1 adult working with the children on that day did have in date emergency first aid training as evidenced by the certification on file
Provider's corrective action:
- There is always one member of staff on the premise with FAR. Two staff members have FAR training and the relief staff member will complete the FAR course when available

Coolick Pre-School, Killarney · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) There was no adult on site on the day of the inspection with up to date First aid training. An Immediate Action Notice was issued to the Registered Provider in respect of no adult on site with up to date first aid training. The service submitted a written response outlining that a person with up to date FAR will be rostered to work as and from 19.5.’25
Provider's corrective action:
- A staff member with FAR training will always be present

Cordal Community Preshool and Playgroup CLG, Castleisland · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) On the morning of the inspection there was no staff member on duty trained in first aid. It was acknowledged that at 1pm a staff commenced work who held a current certificate as a first aid responder. An immediate action notice was issued and a reply to the notice on the 16th of April stated that each day a person trained in first aid would be available at the service
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider has ensured that a staff member with a certificate in first aid is rostered to always be on site when the service is operational

Sheilann's Early Learning Centre, Gneeveguila · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) While there was an adult trained in paediatric first aid available to the children at all times there was no adult with a current First Aid Responder (FAR) certificate. In conversation, the registered furnished evidence of confirmation of FAR training which was booked for 16/17 September 2024
Provider's corrective action:
- The following statement was received from the registered provider; (1) The First Aid Responder training was completed, and a copy of the certificate sent on as proof. A provisional date has been booked for 2026 to ensure that there is an adult available to the children at all times with FAR training

Listowel Pre-school Playgroup, Listowel · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (2)(a) The first aid box was not suitably stocked. The following items were not in stock in addition to the contents provided: - • Water burns dressings (1 small and 1 large) • 2 individually wrapped sterile unmedicated wound dressings(medium). • 3 individually wrapped sterile unmedicated wound dressings (extra-large) • 6 individually wrapped sterile unmedicated wound dressings (large)- • 2 Crepe bandage (7cm)
Provider's corrective action:
- The first aid box is now suitable stocked with the listed items. The first aid box will include an updated list of the required items and this will be checked and re-stocked as and when required

Children's House Montessori, Killarney, Killarney · Regulation 25 — First aid
- (1) There were no staff trained in first aid for children available on the day of inspection. A certificate was available to evidence that one staff member had valid First Aid Responder training completed, however this staff member was off on holidays. An Immediate Action Notice was issued on site to the registered provider with a request to submit a written response within 24 hours
Provider's corrective action:
- (1) In response to the Immediate Action Notice, issued 5 April 2024, the registered provider stated that the staff member trained as a First Aid Responder would be returning from holidays on the 9 April 2024. The staff member would be available to the children while the service is in operation. The registered provider submitted training dates provided by a facilitator that confirmed seven staff were booked for paediatric first aid training in April 2024 and three were booked for training as First Aid Responders in June 2024. A reminder has been added at the beginning of the academic year to check expiry dates of all first aid certificates

- (1) It was established that there was no adult on the premises on the 19 September with the required First Aid Responder training (FAR) An Immediate Action Notice was issued to the registered provider on the 02 October 2023
Provider's corrective action:
- & Supporting Documentation Submitted (1) The manager responded to the IAN within the 24-hour allocated time frame and stated that a course has been booked for 2 staff members to attend first aid responder training on the 28 October 2023. An invoice was attached to evidence booking details and payment. Summary Comment Documentation in the form of an invoice was submitted to the early years office to indicate that 3 staff members would be attending the necessary training. More importantly it informed that at any given time there would be enough trained adults on the premises to ensure the children’s safety. The Requirement has been met
