Busy Bees, Cavan · Regulation 29 — Premises
- (e) A toilet and nappy changing area located off the Baby room was in use on the day of inspection. A suitable privacy partition was not provided to separate the toilet from the nappy changing unit. A shower curtain was installed since the last inspection to provide privacy however this is unacceptable due to the infection control risk. This non-compliance was found at the last inspection, and the registered provider outlined an action to be taken to address this, however the action was insufficient to prevent reoccurrence
Provider's corrective action:
- A partition has been put in place in the baby changing area to separate the toilet from the baby changing unit. Ensure privacy for children when toileting/ nappy changing. Also, we are now carrying out specific bathroom times for any toilet-trained children, one of which takes place just before nappy changing time, which will reduce the risk of more than one child being in the area at one time. We aim to ensure where at all possible, only one child is in the area

- (d) A toilet seat was missing from one of the two toilets in the children’s sanitary facilities on the first floor. This is a recurring non-compliance from the last inspection, where the registered provider's response detailed that “New Toilet seat is scheduled to be fitted 19/07/25. Toilet seats will be checked daily & replaced/repaired promptly”. The corrective and preventive actions taken by the registered provider did not adequately address the non- compliance or prevent the non-compliance from recurring
Provider's corrective action:
- New toilet seat has been fitted. Toilet seats will be replaced if broken and a spare seat will be stored and fitted promptly if needed

- (d) In ECCE Room 2 paint was peeling off the cupboard door under the sink making it difficult to clean effectively. (e) 1. The nappy changing facilities in a hallway adjacent to ECCE Room 2 were unsatisfactory. A hallway is not a suitable area for nappy changing as there was no hand washing facilities available, children’s coats and bags were stored in the vicinity and privacy was not afforded to the children being changed due to older children passing by to use nearby toilet facilities. 2. On discussion with staff members, up to 26 children can be present on Wednesdays who require nappy changing, a total of 3 nappy changing stations are required for this group of children as the ratio is 1 nappy changing unit and 1 wash hand basin for every 11 children. There is 1 nappy changing area located adjacent to the Toddler Room which meets acceptable standards
Provider's corrective action:
- (d) In ECCE Room 2 the paint has been replaced on the cupboard door under the sink. Management will conduct regular risk assessments to ensure all surfaces are smooth for effective cleaning. (e) This area is no longer a nappy changing area. Parents have been advised that children attending ECCE Room 2 must be potty trained. If children require nappy changing the Toddler room facilities will be used. 2. Three nappy changing stations are now available. Two nappy changing areas off the Toddler room and one in the staff toilet. The registered provider must ensure that there is an adequate number of nappy changing facilities to facilitate the number of children wearing nappies

- The flow to the hot tap in the children’s sanitary accommodation used by the children in preschool Room 3 was not sufficient as there was only a very low flow and this did not support effective hand washing
Provider's corrective action:
- Taps have been replaced. Water pressure has been tested and confirmed to be within safe operating range. The water temperature of the taps has also been checked and is within the safe and acceptable range. Risk assessments have been updated to include regular checks of all bathroom fixtures and fittings. All staff have been informed of the updated risk assessments and have a clear understanding of their responsibilities in ensuring risk assessments are completed daily
