Obair Community Creche, Newmarket-On-Fergus · Regulation 29 — Premises

Provider's corrective action:
  • (c) 1. An air conditioning firm have been contacted, and an appointment has been made for Friday 12th June for them to look at the air conditioning unit in the room. The service contract has been changed to every 6 months to make sure this issue doesn't arise again. (d) 2. The radiator cover has been removed, and a new one is being made to order. Maintenance will resolve this issue within the next three weeks (due to holidays). 3. Broken tiles have been removed, and a wooden skirting board will be fitted in the next three weeks. 4. The bin has been replaced. 5. The sofa has been removed from the sensory room, and a chair has been put in place. 6. All skirting boards are going to be sanded and repainted within the next three weeks. 7. The shelving unit has been revamped with contact paper to allow for easier cleaning. 8. The indentation in the outdoor area has been filled in temporarily until maintenance can put a long-term solution in place within the next three weeks. The service will stay up to date with maintenance inspections

Provider's corrective action:
  • 1.All sinks have been descaled and sanitised. A structured daily and weekly cleaning checklist has been implemented for all care rooms, hallways and sanitary facilities. Educators are responsible for completing and signing the checklist to ensure hygiene standards have consistently been maintained. 2. A deep clean of all the care rooms and hallways has been carried out. The care rooms have just been repainted. A monthly centre inspection by management will be carried out to monitor cleanliness, maintenance issues and any issues identified will be recorded in the maintenance log and addressed immediately. 3 The ceiling in the hallway to the pre-school room has been cleaned and repaired and painted. A preventative maintenance schedule has been introduced to regularly check ceilings, ventilation, paintwork and building areas to ensure they remain in good repair. 4. All cobwebs and spiders and been removed from the toddler room and sanitary facilities. All staff have been reminded of hygiene and sanitation procedures during a staff meeting and will continue to follow our cleaning and infection control policies. 5. Toilet brush has been removed and replaced with a new one. Bathrooms will be inspected weekly by management to ensure they are hygienic and bathroom equipment will be replaced when needed. 6. The vent in the adult sanitary facility has been cleaned. The service will maintain documentation including cleaning checklists, bathroom cleaning records and maintenance logs to ensure ongoing monitoring

  • (e) Corrective and Preventive Action A plumber has been contacted to fit a thermostat. He has given the week starting March 31st as a possible week to do the work. He has also suggested in the meantime turning down the temperature of the heating as they are both linked. The children will be supervised while using the tap to make sure they are not using the hot water until the issue is resolved

Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. As an interim measure the nappy changing facility is in the middle room. A new nappy changing area will be in place in 2025. A kitchen Helper has been purchased so all children can reach the sink to wash their hands after nappy changes 2. A larger barrier has been put in place between the existing toilets, only one child is permitted in the toilets at a time and the children are encouraged to use the toilet nearer the window to promote dignity and privacy. Quotations have been put in place to install two new toilets with direct access to the preschool room. The service is aiming to get new toilets installed by the end of Jan 2025 There are actions being taken to install new toilets in an existing shed, once this is completed the changing table will be returned to its original place
