Provider's corrective action:
  • The area directly outside the baby room has been cleared and all broken toys have been removed and disposed of. The misplaced roof tile above the playground has been repaired and secured. All broken and cracked windows within the crèche have been repaired and replaced. A third baby toilet seat has been purchased and installed. This will remain available in the toilet area to support the children's needs. All sinks and taps throughout the crèche have been cleaned using a limescale remover. All taps and sinks are now clear, fully functional, and draining properly. These items added to daily and weekly check list and risk assessment forms

As a preventive action they stated that they will ensure that adequate sanitary facilities are maintained in line with health and safety regulatory requirements and the service maintenance plan will include regular review of sanitary accommodation to ensure facilities remain adequate and fully operational.   • (c) The registered provider has installed new mechanical ventilation units to ensure adequate airflow and compliance with hygiene and infection control requirements. The unit has been installed and is fully operational. As a preventive action the service has an established monthly inspection process which includes the ventilation unit. The fan and vents will be checked regularly and cleaned (including removal of dust build-up by vacuuming) to ensure effective operation. Ventilation will continue to be included as part of monthly inspection checks, and any faults or reduced performance will be addressed promptly by a qualified electrician. (d) Tiles have been installed on the wall behind the nappy changing mat to provide a smooth, and easily cleanable surface that supports infection prevention and hygiene standards. As a preventive action environmental checks will be included in routine cleaning and health and safety inspections to ensure all surfaces remain intact, sealed, and suitable for cleaning. Provider's corrective action:
  • (d) The edges of the porthole have been safeguarded with artificial grass to protect children from the sharp edges. Preventative Action: The service provider will conduct routine inspections in the garden area to identify any potential risks that may endanger children. (e) The hand basin in the ECCE restroom room was removed the day before the inspection after a risk assessment was done. The use of the sink within the ECCE room for handwashing was a temporary solution until the original sink in the restroom was replaced on the evening of the inspection on 20/06/2024. Preventative Action: In the interest of future safety measures, the service provider will close the ECCE preschool room until the sanitary facilities are repaired or replaced
