Happy Hands Creche, Naas · Regulation 29 — Premises

Provider's corrective action:
  • Corrective Action 1. All art and craft materials were removed from the nappy changing area immediately and placed into the newly provided storage unit. 2/3. The nappy changing area and unit were cleaned immediately and thoroughly, including corners and around all units. New cleaners have now been engaged to ensure a higher standard of cleanliness is maintained. 4. The detached radiator cover tops were repaired and securely reattached without delay. Additional checks were carried out on all radiator covers within the service to ensure no further issues were present. 5. Children’s coats and belongings were removed from the floor and water tray area immediately to ensure the area was safe and tidy. Coat hangers and appropriate storage have been ordered to provide designated spaces for children’s belongings and will be installed April 20th. 6. The broken toilet was repaired without delay and returned to full working order. Preventive Action 1/2/3/4/5/6. These matters were discussed at a staff meeting and a cleaning rota has been introduced. The nappy changing area, radiator covers, toilet facilities and storage areas have been included in daily room risk assessments and management will carry out weekly checks to ensure the area remains compliant and appropriately organised. Staff have been reminded to report any maintenance issues immediately to management. A maintenance log system will be used to track repairs from identification through to completion

  • The linoleum covering on the floor in the children’s sanitary accommodation has now been replaced. The wall behind the three toilets has been treated and painted. The wood under the sink has been replaced and painted. The children’s sanitary accommodation will be checked as part of our daily checks to ensure that any needed repairs are identified and addressed promptly

Provider's corrective action:
  • (c) The toilet in the Red room has been painted and treated with mildew paint. This painting will be done each year or sooner if needed to prevent this mildew build up. (d) 1. All bathrooms have been thoroughly cleaned and any dust etc. has been removed. As part of the cleaning schedule the bathrooms will be cleaned thoroughly daily. 2. The tap in the Blue room has been brought to the attention of the landlord. The service is waiting for a date for them to replace it. The service will ensure all taps are in working order. 3. The surface under the sinks in the Blue room has been treated and covered to allow for a cleaner surface. If this new covering gets damaged it will be replaced. 4. The holes in this wall have been filled and a covering has been put up to allow for a cleaner finish. The service will ensure this surface is kept clean and replace if necessary. 5. A new paper towel dispenser has been erected to replace the old one. The service will replace the dispensers if they break as soon as possible

Provider's corrective action:
  • (c) • We have sent an email to an electrical company, and we are waiting on them to schedule in a visit. An update will be sent as soon as the vents are fixed. We will be risk assessing the rooms daily and any vent that is not working we will schedule for it to be repaired. • No corrective or preventive actions submitted. (d) • The service manager met with the cleaning team and rescheduled their shift pattern to facilitate the deep cleans 5pm - 9pm is now the new schedule shift pattern of the cleaning staff which means there will be plenty of time to do all areas effectively when no children are not in the service. • Walls in the care rooms have been scheduled in for cleaning and a fresh paint. This will take place over the next 4 weeks for each room, as each room is painted pictures will be submitted and sent to the inspector. • A carpenter will replace the wood that is missing. • We have ordered the surface material from amazon to fix the absorbing surface. • The wooden caterpillar train is being removed. We will look at the surface once removed and decide on the best possible approach once it is completed. • We have bought the bulbs to fit the lights, but we need an electrician to fit them as they are specialised bulbs

Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. All mould growth was cleaned on the walls, ceilings and around the window frames within the Caterpillar Room with specific mould cleaner. All of these areas were painted with mould resistant paint and repainted with magnolia as per the wall colour of the room. All mould growth was cleaned around the window frames within the Cocoon Room with specific mould cleaner. All of these areas were painted with mould resistant paint and repainted with magnolia as per the wall colour of the room. All mould growth was cleaned upon the walls within toilet 1 & 2 in the caterpillar room with specific mould cleaner. All of these areas were painted with mould resistant paint and repainted with magnolia as per the wall colour of the room. A thorough check of all of these areas for any further mould growth was carried out which thankfully did not identify any new growth. This has been added to our daily risk assessment of each area within the building for the checking of mould and also ventilation. 2. Deep clean of all areas Caterpillar Room, Cocoon Room and sanitary areas alongside daily ventilation through the opening of windows, ventilation has been added to our daily risk assessment of all areas. 3. and 4. Thermometers were purchased for each care room to ensure that correct temperatures are maintained at all times throughout the building. Room temperature checks have been added to the daily risk assessments

  • (a) The door has been repaired and now operates easily. (b) The wallpaper has been replenished. The roof has been repaired. (c) The room was cleaned and sanitised immediately after the inspection. 2. The room was cleaned and sanitised immediately after the inspection. The cleaning schedule has been revised and has been agreed with staff. 3. The hot water was not turned on the morning of the inspection. This has been added to the checklist for morning duties

  • (c ) 1. An Electrician replaced the 6 ceiling lights in the classroom on Friday 10th October. All ceiling lights are working. Please note the registered provider had requested the management to replace the bulbs on several occasions explaining the necessity. There are spare bulbs in stock if lights need replacing and they will be replaced immediately. (d) 2. Electrician has replaced the light covers on the two ceiling lights. There are spare light covers in stock should we need them in future

Provider's corrective action:
  • (d) Sunhouse room – 1 Elm Park building. 1. We sprayed the walls with anti mould spray, washed thoroughly, and applied one coat of anti mould paint together with two coats of silk emulsion paint. The reason for the dampness was due to being unable to waterproof the new roof fully because of the continuous rain over the last few months we were unable to get it dry enough to complete the fibreglass roof. We have now completed the roof with additional fibreglass and matting coating over the entire roof. This has been completed with 2 coats of top coat f ibreglass resin. We expect there will be no further problems with water ingress. 2. The wall has been thoroughly cleaned, sprayed, and painted with anti mould paint and emulsion finish. 3. The covers of the two fluorescent lights were removed and was cleaned thoroughly. One of the lights was replaced completely with a new fitting. 38 Maynooth road building. 4. Those holes were drilled for the new air conditioning units. The flexible ducting and exterior vents have now been fitted. The air conditioning units are now completed. As above we have completed the ducting and external air vents on the air conditioning units. There should be no further problems , and the air conditioning units assist in the rooms having a constant regulated temperature all year round
