Inspection of 23 February 2026 — Inspection Report

Regulation 11 — Staffing levels

  • (1) On the morning of the inspection in the ECCE room 2 there was not an adequate number of adults working directly with the children attending this room. From 09:10 to 10:30am in the ECCE room 2 there was 1 childcare staff member caring for 20 children ranging in age from 4 to 5 years. A student was also present who cannot be counted in adult: child ratios
Provider's corrective action:
  • The staff roster has been adjusted to ensure that a relief staff member is available to provide cover when needed. Two staff member that were on leave have now returned to the service, so assurance can be provided that the adult: child ratios will be maintained at all times

Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service

  • (1)(i) On the day of the inspection only 2 staff members had signed in. There was no daily sign in record for the remainder of the staff entering and leaving the premises
Provider's corrective action:
  • There is now a daily sign in record for all staff entering and leaving the premises. The registered provider will ensure that the sign in record is recorded on a daily basis

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: Two staff members garda vetting disclosures was not dated within the previous three years in adherence to with the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice ‘EYI-RN12.3 Renewal of Garda Vetting’
Provider's corrective action:
  • Updated garda vetting is now available for the 2 staff members. The registered provider will ensure that garda vetting is renewed every 3 years and is available for inspection

Regulation 24 — Checking in and out and record of attendance

  • (3)(a)(iii)(iv) & (b) On the day of inspection the Early Years Inspectors were not asked to sign in or out when entering or leaving the premises. There was no daily record available to record this information
Provider's corrective action:
  • A book is now available for all visitors to sign in and out when entering and leaving the premises. The registered provider will ensure that this record is maintained

Regulation 26 — Fire safety measures

  • (b)There was no up-to-date maintenance record available for the fire extinguishers. The fire extinguishers were last serviced in June 2024
Provider's corrective action:
  • (b)The fire extinguishers have now been serviced. The registered provider will ensure that the fire extinguishers are serviced on an annual basis

Regulation 29 — Premises

  • (c) The nappy changing area used by the children attending ECCE 1 was cold while nappy changing was taking place. There was no means of heating provided in this area
Provider's corrective action:
  • (c) A pull cord heater has now been installed in the nappy changing area to ensure the space is no longer cold. The temperature of this area will be monitored on a daily basis and the heater turned on as needed

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: 1. The tables in the covered outdoor area and in a number of the care rooms had sharp unprotected corners. These are a potential injury hazard. 2. In ECCE room 1 the wooden shelving unit was unsecured and is a potential injury hazard if pulled or toppled over by a child. 3. The surface temperature of the radiator in ECCE Room 1 was hot to touch and the temperature was recorded at 52.8 0 C at 11:20. This went unnoticed by the staff present until it was brought to their attention by the inspector. A recheck temperature was carried out at 11:45 and the temperature was recorded at 38.6 0 C when the heating in the radiator was turned off
Provider's corrective action:
  • Corrective & Preventive Action 1: All tables that had these sharp unprotected corners have now been rounded by a carpenter (pictures have been included in email) 2: Shelving unit in ECCE room 1 has now been secured to the wall and is no longer a hazard. (picture included in email) 3: Radiator in ECCE room 1 was recorded as to high, we have found the correct temp to leave the thermostat at that is on the radiator. The registered provider will ensure: 1: that all tables purchased in the future will have rounded edges. 2: that checking shelving units is included in our risk assessments. 3: that the temp of the radiator is checked periodically and also included in our risk assessments
