- (4) While procedures to follow in the event of a fire were displayed throughout the service these did not reflect the actual fire exit routes. In discussion with the registered provider, it was confirmed that the displayed evacuation routes for four care rooms on the first floor were not reflective of the actual rooms or the exit routes in place

- The last recorded fire drill took place in December 2025. Preschool services are required to carry out monthly fire drills to ensure the safety of the children attending the service
Provider's corrective action:
- A fire drill was carried out shortly after the inspection. A staff member has been given the responsibility of ensuring monthly fire drill are carried out going forward

- 4. The registered provider stated the fire evacuation procedures have been displayed in the service and all staff have been made aware of same. A monthly fire drill is schedules and children are aware of the required procedures

Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated that there had been an error with the fire equipment servicing agreement and the company has since serviced the fire extinguishers. An annual reminder has been set to ensure this is completed in a timely manner going forward

- (1)(b) While it acknowledged that a maintenance record was available to demonstrate the number, type and maintenance of the firefighting equipment which were serviced on the 20th of October 2025. The record of the number, type and maintenance of the smoke alarms available on the day was not current and was dated 2022
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider has contacted the fire alarm company and has requested a service call out. They are waiting on a confirmed date. They have started they will include a reminder in their diary to ensure an annual service takes place in the future. The registered provider stated the fire alarm system was serviced on the 12 January 2026

- (1)(a) During discussion with the staff, they confirmed that fire drills were carried out monthly however a written record of these drills was not maintained. There was no notice of the procedures to be followed in the event of an evacuation displayed in the hall

- The registered provider stated that going forward all fire drills will be recorded in writing and the evacuation procedure has been displayed in the hall

- The registered provider stated that an internal fire safety officer has been named and management has committed to complete a fire drill at 4 weekly intervals. This has been added to the meeting agenda for discussion
