- There was no evidence that the wired smoke alarm had been serviced in the last calendar year. All wired smoke alarms in preschool services are required to be serviced annually
Provider's corrective action:
- The wired smoke alarm was serviced shortly after the inspection on the 10 March 2026. The registered provider has engaged a company to service the alarm as required throughout the year

- (4) While it is acknowledged that a fire evacuation procedure was displayed in the main classroom, it was not specific to the layout of the service in relation to exit pathways and designated assembly points
Provider's corrective action:
- A service-specific evacuation procedure has been developed, now detailing the fire exit and assembly point. The staff team have been updated, and the procedure is publicly displayed within the service Staff have been fully briefed, and the evacuation procedure is now clearly displayed in the service for all to see

- Fire drills were not completed monthly. Through discussion with four staff, it was established that fire drills are only completed every 3 months and not monthly as recorded and outlined in the service’s fire safety policy
Provider's corrective action:
- A fire drill was carried out shortly after the inspection. The requirement to carry out monthly fire drills in the service has been added to the workbook in the service and will be checked monthly by the manager

- It is acknowledged there was a template in place to record any fire drill which had taken place in the service. However, the last fire drill was recorded as having taken place in October 2024. Preschool services are required to carry out fire drills monthly to comply with national fire safety standards

- A fire drill was carried out in the service on the day after the inspection. Staff have been reminded to carry out monthly fire drills in the service
