- (a) Fire drills were not practiced and recorded on a monthly basis. Records showed that the last fire drill was completed 17 March 2026. This posed a safety risk to both staff and children in the event of an emergency
- (b) The service had no records available of maintenance carried out on the smoke alarm systems since 17 December 2024. This was also not available on the last inspection, 22 February 2024. The corrective and preventative action submitted failed to address the non-compliance. This poses a risk of safety to the children and adults in the service in the event of fire
Provider's corrective action:
- The following response was received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action 1. The service has been undertaking twice monthly fire drills. Fire drills will be practiced monthly going forward. 2. A new company will take over the maintenance of the smoke alarms

- 1 (b) The certification of servicing for the firefighting equipment indicated this was carried out on the 27 June 2025 but no records of maintenance carried out on the smoke alarm systems was available to be reviewed. On discussion with the registered provider, the inspector was informed that this maintenance had never been carried out. Yearly maintenance of smoke alarms is required. This poses a risk of safety to the children and adults in the service in the event of fire

- The following statement was received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action The smoke alarm maintenance was completed on the 15 December 2025. This will be completed on an annual basis

- (1)(a) There was no record of regular fire drills kept. The last recorded fire drill was in November 2024. It is acknowledged that staff reported monthly fire drills take place
Provider's corrective action:
- Monthly fire drills have since been carried out in both morning and afternoon sessions. Fire drills are now scheduled monthly

- (b) There was no record of the annual maintenance of the smoke alarms available for review in the premises. This poses a risk to the safety of children attending the service in the event of fire. This was also unavailable at the last inspection on 11 October 2022

- The following statement was made by the proposed registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action The smoke alarm system has been serviced and tested. This will be completed annually

- 1 (b) The service had no records available of maintenance carried out on the smoke alarm systems since 21 Jan 2023. This was also not available in the last inspection on 07 November 2022. This poses a risk of safety to the children and adults in the service in the event of fire

- A copy of the maintenance certificate was received from the National School. A cert will be obtained from the school when maintenance is completed in the future

- (1)(b) The smoke alarm system had not been serviced since 2020. Smoke alarm systems must be serviced at least once a year. The exact servicing schedule will be determined by the qualified person carrying out the task. (4) A notice of the procedures to be followed in the event of a fire were not displayed in the service. The notice is required to be displayed in a prominent place in each room to support the safety of the staff and children in the event of a fire

- (1)(b) The smoke alarm was serviced on 5 September 2025. (4) A notice of the procedures to be followed in the event of a fire has been displayed on the wall in the service

- (1)(b) It is acknowledged that there was a record available demonstrating that the firefighting equipment was last serviced on 04 December 2023. However appropriate documentation was not available on the day of inspection to confirm that the smoke alarm system was recently maintained by a competent contractor
Provider's corrective action:
- Documentary proof of the inspection of the smoke alarm system was sourced. The contractor who inspects firefighting equipment and smoke alarms was informed that certification for the smoke alarms will always be required in future
