Infection control: On the day of inspection, the staff toilet was observed to be used as a storage area for a television. This posed an infection control risk. This was found on the previous inspection on 26 September 2023 and the corrective action stated that the manager would ensure that no material is stored in the toilet cubicles, however this remains an issue. Action submitted by the Registered Provider The following statement was received from the registered provider:

Provider's corrective action:

Infection control: The television has now been removed. All staff are now aware of the infection control risk and toilets will no longer be used for storage

(a) Fire drills were not practiced and recorded on a monthly basis. Records showed that the last fire drill was completed on 6 October 2025. This posed a safety risk to both staff and children in the event of an emergency

Provider's corrective action:

The following statement was received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action A fire drill has been completed. Fire drill responsibility has been assigned to a senior member of staff

On the day of inspection 14 children were observed to use 1 toilet and 1 sink available for the children. From review of the roster, it was observed by the inspector that a maximum number of 17 children attended on a daily basis. The person in charge informed the inspector that all the children enrolled in the service use the one toilet facility as the second toilet in the service was used as a staff toilet. The service requires 1 toilet and 1 sink for every 11 children and 1 toilet and 1 sink for up to 8 adults

Provider's corrective action:

The following statement was received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action Both bathrooms have now been assigned to children only. Staff now have access to use the school bathroom if required

(2)(a)(b) Four references available for two staff members, had not been validated prior to the commencement of staff members in the service. (4) A certificate of qualification confirming completion of a full major award at level 5 or above was not available for one staff member who was observed working directly with children on the day of inspection

Provider's corrective action:

(2)(a(b) Two references have now been validated for one staff member. The second staff member for which validations were not available no longer works in the service. All references will be validated going forward. (4) The staff member has committed to undertaking a level 6 qualification in 2024 with a recognised training college. They will no longer be working directly with the children but will be responsible for the administration function. The service has met with a support organisation to assist in sourcing training. Staff members will have a level 5 minimum qualification going forward

(1)(a) A record of experience was not available for one staff member employed by the service

Provider's corrective action:

The staff member is no longer employed in the service. All staff CV’s with their experience will be submitted on appointment

Infection Control: The toilet cubicle was used to store an open cardboard box of library books and three stacked children’s chairs. Toilet areas should not be used for storage of equipment and materials due to the potential risk of cross infection. Action submitted by the Registered Provider

Provider's corrective action:

Infection Control: The open cardboard box of library books and three stacked children’s chairs were removed from the toilet cubicle. The manager will ensure that no material is stored in the toilet cubicle
