- (b) There was no fire detection alarm certificate available on the day of inspection, compromising the safety of the adults and children in the event of an emergency. In conversation, the designated person in charge could not locate it on the premises. It was acknowledged that a fire detection alarm certificate was received in the office of the inspectorate dated 02 July 2026, two days after the inspection

- (b) The fire alarm service was carried out and the certificate was submitted

- (b) There was no smoke alarm certificate available on the day of inspection. It was acknowledged that a smoke alarm certificate dated 20/05/2026, the day after inspection, was received in office of the inspectorate
Provider's corrective action:
- The following statement was received from the registered provider;
- (b) The smoke alarm was serviced and a new certificate was issued on 20/05/2026. A new company has been employed and they will be conducting and documenting regular servicing of the smoke alarm to ensure compliance

- (a) Contrary to the service’s fire safety policy fire drills were not being carried out on a monthly basis as required. Documentary evidence indicated that the last fire drill had been carried out on 17/01/2025, posing a risk that the children and adults may be unaware of the procedures and routes used in the event of an emergency
Provider's corrective action:
- The following statement was received from the registered provider; (1) (a) A recent fire drill was carried out on 22 October 2025. A staff member has been designated to record fire drills to ensure compliance in the future. Management will ensure that fire drills are carried out monthly as required

- (1)(b) The registered provider did not have a record on file and available for inspection of the maintenance record of when the fire alarm system was last serviced. This posed a fire safety risk to the adults and children attending the service
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated the following in their report: Corrective and Preventive Action Fire alarm system and maintenance report has been carried out. The fire alarm system was recently serviced and the maintenance record is now on display. The maintenance company will carry out regular scheduled checks in the future

- (1)(b) The registered provider was unable to provide evidence that a record of the type of fire alarm system and a maintenance record of the fire alarm system was updated and that it was maintained as per the manufactures instructions. This could pose a safety risk to the children and staff in the event of a fire

- The registered provider stated the following in their reply: Corrective and Preventive Action The fire alarm system was recently serviced. The servicing company will maintain the alarm on a regular basis

- (a) Records were not maintained of monthly fire drills contrary to the service’s Fire Safety policy and regulatory requirements. Documented evidence indicated that the last fire drill carried out, prior to closing for the summer break, was completed on 22 May 2025. In addition, there were no fire drills available for the months of April 2025 and November 2024, which may lead to confusion with the adults and children knowing where to go and what to do to ensure safe evacuation in the event of an emergency
Provider's corrective action:
- (a) A fire drill was carried out and recorded on 22/09/2025. Fire drills have been scheduled for the coming months. These will be noted on the curriculum planning and have been allocated a date on the attendance records for each month going forward

- A certificate of maintenance servicing of the fire detection system was submitted to the Inspectorate with a service date of 18/08/2025 for the firefighting equipment and 19/08/2025 for the smoke detection system. The registered provider will carry out regular checks of the dates of services due

- On 9/06/2025 and 10/09/2025 the registered provider advised of the following. Corrective and Preventive Action A service of the fire detection and alarm system was carried out by a competent person and a service certificate was issued to the preschool. An annual service will be organised each year going forward and records maintained

- (a) There was no written evidence of recent fire drills having been carried out in the service. The date recorded of the last fire drill was November 2022, posing a risk that the adults and children in the service were unaware of the procedures to be carried out in the event of an emergency or a fire. (b) There was no written maintenance record available of the most recent smoke alarm testing. The certificate presented indicated that the smoke alarms had been fitted in 2018. 4. The procedures to be followed in the event of a fire were not displayed in a conspicuous position in the premises
Provider's corrective action:
- (a) A fire drill was carried out and recorded on 24 March 2025. In future, fire drills will be carried out on a monthly basis as required. Staff and management are aware of the requirement to carry out and maintain records of the monthly fire drills. (b) The smoke alarm was tested on 24 March 2025. Management will ensure that this is carried out on a yearly basis. 4. The procedures to the be followed in the event of a fire are now visible in each care room
