- (1) (b) An annual maintenance record was not available in respect of the fire fighting equipment. The fire fighting equipment in the premises was last serviced on 31 January 2025
Provider's corrective action:
- The fire fighting equipment was serviced, the day after the inspection on 30 April 2026. The service will check for fire cert to be up to date and not rely on the company to always be punctual with their inspections

- (4) A notice of the procedures to be followed in the event of a fire was not conspicuously displayed in the service
Provider's corrective action:
- (4) The recommended signage was purchased and installed inside. Ensure signage is intact and readable. They will be replaced immediately if needed

- A written record for completed fire drills was not available on the premises on the day of inspection. (b) Fire detection equipment had not been tested within the required timeframe. A record demonstrating the number, type and maintenance of the firefighting equipment and smoke alarms was not available
Provider's corrective action:
- (1) (a) A written record of completed fire drills was submitted with the most recent fire drill recorded on 03 October. (b) A maintenance record dated 03 July 2025, for the fire extinguishers was received. The smoke detection alarm system was serviced and tested on 28 January 2026

- Fire drill took place on 17 July 2025. Monthly reminder for fire drills has been scheduled in our calendar

- (1)(a) Evidence that fire drills were carried out monthly was not available. A fire drill was not recorded as taking place in March 2025. (b) The smoke detection system was not serviced on an annual basis. Records reviewed demonstrated that the smoke alarms were last serviced on 06 September 2023
Provider's corrective action:
- (1)(a) The registered provider stated in the response that a fire drill was conducted on the 07 April 2025. (b) The registered provider stated in the response that the smoke detection system was serviced on 28 April 2025. The registered provider stated that the fire extinguishers and smoke alarms have been serviced by an appropriate person. The maintenance of the fire safety equipment will be booked for service in advance of the expiration date

- There was no up to date maintenance record to indicate that the smoke alarms and firefighting equipment were operational and maintained in the service. The most recent record was dated November 2023
Provider's corrective action:
- The fire service company were contacted on the 08/02/2025 and servicing and testing of the fire detection and alarm system was carried out in the service on the 10/02/2025. Testing on the fire extinguishers and smoke alarm is carried out annually in the service by the company. On this occasion there was a misunderstanding regarding the renewal date for retesting. The childcare service has been in contact with the company who have agreed to pre-arrange annual date for re testing of the extinguishers and smoke alarms

- There was no documentation to indicate monthly fire drills were carried out in the service
- There was no maintenance record to indicate that the smoke alarms were operational and maintained in the service
Provider's corrective action:
- A fire drill record book was purchased and a fire drill was carried out on the 11/02/2025. Management have purchased the fire drill record book and are committed to completing a monthly drill with the children
- Management have employed the services of a fire service company, to carry out the testing of the smoke alarms. The smoke alarms were tested on 25/02/25 and proven to be in sufficient working order. The fire service company will carry out regular checks in future. Next one is scheduled for 6 months’ time

Happy Days Montessori School, Birr · Regulation 26 — Fire safety measures
- Fire drills were not carried out monthly. The lack of regular fire drill practice since 25 January 2024 may impede the safe evacuation of children in the event of a fire in the premises
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated in the response that the service carried out a fire drill on the 13th of June with all children. (Fire drill record for June 2024 included) Management will ensure that monthly fire drills will be carried out without fail going forward and such drills will be recorded. Summary Comment In respect of the corrective actions taken documentary evidence was submitted to the office of the Early Years Inspectorate, reviewed by the Early Years Inspector and deemed to meet the regulatory requirement. The practices as stated will be reviewed on the next inspection
