The Ferns Preschool, Portarlington · Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service
- (i) A staff roster was not available. The inspector was advised that a rolling roster is in place as staff work the same hours per week. (k) A sample of accident and incidents records were not available for review
Provider's corrective action:
- A roster will be available, per room with staff allocation from September 2026. The roster will be placed on the notice board. The registered provider made contact with the electronic application support team and now knows how to find the accident and incident form, and medical administration forms on the new application system. Forms and records will be accessible going forward. Summary Comment The inspector has reviewed the corrective and preventive actions taken. The non compliances identified under Regulation 16 have been adequately addressed

Timahoe Tots LTD, Timahoe · Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service
- There was no staff roster to support forward planning in the service to demonstrate room cover, break cover, opening and closing cover and first aid response cover in the service for the week ahead. Written records of information in relation to the service in accordance with (i) were not available
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated in the response that a staff roster has been implemented and will be reviewed on a weekly basis. It shows the staff working hours in each room, who cover breaks, the person in charge that week and it will display who provides the FAR cover for the week ahead. The staff roster is displayed in the canteen. The staff roster is checked daily by the person in charge and changes are made to it if staff are out sick, with who is covering or any other changes needed to demonstrate cover over all rooms. (Roster included) Summary Comment In respect of the corrective actions taken documentary evidence was submitted to the office of the Early Years Inspectorate, reviewed by the Early Years Inspector and deemed to meet the regulatory requirement

Darling Buds Montessori & Daycare, Portlaoise · Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service
- (i) The staff roster was available on the day of inspection however it did not accurately reflect the adults working in the service: • A staff member from the ECCE 1 room was noted on the roster from 09:00 – 18:00 however, did not arrive at the service until 10:40. • The person in charge was recorded on the roster 08:00 – 17:00 however, they arrived at the service at 10.30. • A staff member in the ECCE 1 room was rostered to work from 09:00 – 12:00 on the day of inspection, however, was still working in the service past 13:00pm
Provider's corrective action:
- (i) • The manager will ensure staff cover for all appointments going forward. Employees will make appointments outside of working hours, if possible, if this cannot be accommodated cover for that staff to attend appointment will be got. • The person in charge was called to another service before inspection commenced to deal with a staff issue and left the duty manager in charge. She returned as soon as she could. Summary Comment The inspector has reviewed the corrective actions submitted. The non-compliance identified under Regulation 16 (i) has been addressed

The Maples Creche, Portlaoise · Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service
- The staff roster presented was not adequate. The weekly roster presented for the week of March 09 did not detail the following: • Staffs rostered hours for Tuesday 10 – Friday 13 March 2026, to include start, finish and break times for each staff member. • The staff roster did not set out the adult to child ratio for each area of the service by providing information on the allocated rooms the staff members were assigned to work in. • The named staff member to provide cover for staff breaks. • The full names of the staff members
Provider's corrective action:
- A weekly roster now includes staff start, finish and break times. A specific staff member has now been allocated to breaks daily. All staff members will be identified on the staff roster in relation to their room allocation. Staff child ratios will also be identified. The staff roster will contain the full names of staff members. This will ensure all staff have a clear understanding where they are working during the day. The staff roster will be amended weekly where required and available for all staff members

- In pre-school room 3 the attendance of the twenty-two children present in the morning was not recorded in the child attendance record book. (i) A staff roster was not available in the service for review
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated in the response that the attendance of children is recorded on a separate roll book in the children’s base classroom. (Attendance submitted)
- The registered provider stated in the response that a staff roster is now on display in a communal area of service and the staff roster is sent to staff on a weekly basis. (Roster submitted). Summary Comment In respect of the corrective actions taken documentary evidence was submitted to the office of the Early Years Inspectorate, reviewed by the Early Years Inspector and deemed to meet the regulatory requirement

Happy Days Creche Durrow Limited, Durrow · Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service
- A staff roster was not in place to indicate that cover was planned for in advance in respect of the opening and closing requirements, the covering of staff breaks and nappy changing and to ensure that a person with first aid response (FAR) was always on duty during the operation of the service
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider stated in the response that a written system for a live roster, rather than just organising this amongst staff themselves in now in place. The development of the new live roster will ensure this Regulation is adhered to. (Roster included).
