Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. The cozy corner area in the preschool junior room has been updated with a new colourful, mat and more cushions for the children for resting, weekly checks will take place in all of the classrooms by managers. 2. We have redone our classroom areas with more defined layouts for our cozy corner, dress up and construction areas. Weekly check ins will be done with all staff to ensure that they understand the non- compliances, will help prevent them in the future. 3. We have noted for the future if we are using a different room the different age groups to risk assess the rooms and bring in materials that are age appropriate

Provider's corrective action:
  • New artwork/Family wall/Pecs were added to the crèche walls both inside and out. Age appropriate books and books of interest were added to a low accessible shelf. Rest spaces were re-established. The manager spoke with the team around the need for age/stage appropriate materials and enforced the daily schedule to include all materials being accessible until the end of the daily session even if the children play outside. In the future, staff will ensure that both indoor and outdoor environments are inviting and fully equipped with age/stage appropriate materials that are changed weekly. There will be a continuous review of the child development policy at monthly team meetings and staff will discuss what is working well and what needs to be adjusted

  • 1. It is acknowledged that individual plates should always be provided for the fruit snack being served at snack time. The children will be encouraged to clean up when finished at snack time. 2. We provide 3 meals during our 6-hour session. Breakfast, snack and lunch. Kitchen staff have been informed to increase the snack portion and serve at an earlier time of 10 am for the toddler group

  • All care rooms were refreshed and enhanced interest areas were developed to support the emergent interests of all children. The centre management team has been expanded to include a second assistant manager and supervisor. To support high quality care, the management team will conduct monthly room audits to ensure that learning environments are engaging and reflect the interests of all children

Sakura Montessori, Naionra and Afterschool, Blessington · Regulation 19 — Health, welfare and development of child

Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. The Playgroup room is now an inviting and engaging play space. There is a dress up area, home corner, construction area, puzzle shelves, music & imaginative play shelves, sensory table, small play area and art shelves. The Big Montessori room shelves are now open for the full 3 hours of the ECCE session. Montessori shelves will be left open when the children are having snack and preparing to go home i.e. for the full 3 hours. The Playgroup teacher will ensure that there are adequate materials and toys accessible to the children at all times. 2. The library in the Big Montessori room has been restocked with plenty of books. The library will be reviewed weekly to ensure enough books for all children. 3. The Playgroup room’s cosy area has added teddies and cushions and is located at our library for quiet time. The Playgroup teacher will ensure that there is always soft teddies and cushions in the cosy area

Provider's corrective action:
  • The children couldn’t go outside due to the moss on the playground. We have employed a company to power wash the playground, so this doesn’t happen again. The caretaker will carry out inspections of the playground weekly and the staff will inspect it daily. We are purchasing a power washer for use by the caretaker to prevent this in the future

Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. Drinking water – children’s drink bottles are now taken from their bags and put in the room at the water station, to drink when needed 2. The temperature in the sanitary area, the storage heater in the hallway had not been switched on. It was not effective till the next day as they operate at night storage. Summary Comment The actions and photographic evidence received by the Registered Provider have been considered by the Inspectorate. The non-compliances as identified on inspection in relation to Regulation 19 have been addressed
