The Children's House, Cavan · Regulation 19 — Health, welfare and development of child

Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. Family photos have been lowered down on the wall, put into photo albums or laminated and placed in the reading area. Staff will always consider the age of the children and what is the best way for them to be able to view their photos. 2. Staff carry out assessments on the toys that no longer work with batteries. The toys referred to are very useful and educational during play, for example the big bus can be used as a prop when singing “The wheels on the bus”, and therefore not discarded them. There are many other toys that can provide the opportunity to see the cause and effect that happens when a button is pressed etc. As suggested on the day of inspection, we are moving away from plastic battery-operated toys and purchasing more natural resources such as wooden toys
