- • There was no Accident and Incident Policy made available for inspection. • The supervision of staff policy did not outline how long the records of supervision will be kept. • The risk management policy did not specify the length of time risk management records will be kept
Provider's corrective action:
- The following actions have been taken: • An Accident and Incident Policy has been reviewed, updated, and made available within the service policy folder. All staff have been informed of the location of the policy and their responsibilities in relation to recording, reporting, and managing accidents and incidents involving children, staff, or visitors. • The Staff Supervision Policy has been updated to clearly specify the length of time supervision records will be retained. All supervision documentation will be securely maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and the service’s record-keeping procedures. • The Risk Management Policy has been reviewed and updated to include the retention period for all risk assessment and risk management records. This ensures that records relating to identified risks, control measures, and reviews are maintained appropriately and remain available for inspection. A full review of all service policies and procedures has commenced to ensure they are current, accessible, and contain all required information, including record retention periods where applicable. The Person in Charge will complete regular policy audits to ensure all policies remain compliant, are reviewed within the required timeframe, and are communicated effectively to all staff

- For the purpose of this inspection, Regulation 10 was limited to an assessment of the behaviour management policy in place in the service. Although it is acknowledged that the policy and associated procedures were in place, it did not detail all of the necessary information as follows: - The behaviour management policy in place in the service did not detail that the procedures for the protection and welfare of children were managed in line with the safeguarding statement in place in the service

- The behaviour management policy has been updated to include the necessary information

- (i) The service did not have an outings policy in place which outlined the procedures and practices to be followed by staff when undertaking an outing. For example. • Describes measures to ensure the safety and welfare of children when on an outing. • Sets out risk assessment processes and procedures and how the service will respond to identified risks. • States the approach to obtaining written parental consent for outings. • Outlines the procedures for supervising and checking children including adult: child ratios. • States the details for the management of a critical incident on outing (e.g. missing child). • Specifies first aid measures to be in place for the duration of the outing. • Details of insurance cover are outlined
Provider's corrective action:
- (i) In response to the non-compliance the registered provider has stated that an outings policy is now in place for our service. The was created by the owner, manager and administration staff member. We have also obtained written consent from all parents for any future outings the service go on. Staff updated and trained, if needed, on the new policy and required forms. We will review and update our outings policy as necessary and document all the findings and risk assessments for any future outings in the service. Manager / Person in charge will do checks to ensure risk assessment / checklist are being adhered to by staff and that permissions are in place before any outing proceeds

- The following policies were not available for staff members to support them in establishing and maintain safe and effective practices whilst working with the children. (a) statement of purpose and function; (b) complaints policy; (c) policy on administration of medication; (d) policy on infection control; (f) policy on safe sleep; (h) inclusion policy; (l) policy on healthy eating; (m) policy on outdoor play where such play is provided to children attending the service; (o) policy on staff absences; (p) policy on the use of the internet and photographic and recording devices; (q) recruitment policy; (r) risk management policy; (s) settling-in policy; (t) staff training policy; (u) supervision policy. The following policies were available but were not sufficient to support staff in their practice. (e) The policy on managing behaviour did not detail how children’s well-being was supported and appropriate to the age, stage and development of the child. It did not detail the procedures for protection and welfare. It is acknowledged that it set out prohibited practices and supports available to staff to support children’s behavioural and emotional needs. (g) The fire safety policy did not detail how often fire drills should be completed or specify the record keeping requirements in relation to fire safety. It is acknowledged that it set out information about the way staff are informed and trained in the procedures to be followed in the case of fire. (i) The outings policy did not set out the risk assessment process, detail the management of a critical incident or detail the insurance cover. It is acknowledged that it set out information about parental consent for outing, adult: child ratios and first aid measures for outings
Provider's corrective action:
- Corrective & Preventive Action (a-u) The new registered provider has stated that the policies are in development. Once developed all policies will be reviewed annually and on a need to basis. Summary Comment The new registered provider has stated that the policies are in development and evidence of their completion must be submitted to the Inspectorate. Regulation 10 remains non-compliant
