(2)(a)(b) Two written references were obtained and verified by the registered provider. A recruitment checklist is now in place to ensure compliance with the regulatory requirements
Regulation 10 — Policies, procedures etc. of pre-school service
For the purpose of this inspection, Regulation 10 was limited to an assessment of the behaviour management policy in place in the service. Although it is acknowledged that the policy and associated procedures were in place, it did not detail all of the necessary information as follows: - The behaviour management policy in place in the service did not detail that the procedures for the protection and welfare of children were managed in line with the safeguarding statement in place in the service

The behaviour management policy has been updated to include the necessary information
(2) (d) International police vetting was not available for one adult who had lived outside the state for a period exceeding 6 months as an adult. (3) A review of documentation evidenced the registered provider had not taken the required steps to ensure that new recruits were suitable and competent before allowing them access to children: - International police vetting was not available for one adult who required it. - 2 of the references obtained in respect of 1 adults had not been verified prior to the adult commencing employment in the service
Provider's corrective action:
An application for international vetting has been submitted for the adult to the relevant country. The service will seek this from all staff with overseas experiences regardless of role in the school. A recruitment checklist is now updated
A recruitment checklist has been prepared for all new employees moving forward
Regulation 15 — Record of pre-school child
The 12 records reviewed did not contain parental consent for the appropriate medical treatment of a child in the event of an emergency
Provider's corrective action:
All parents emailed to ask for “parental consent for the appropriate medical treatment of a child in the event of an emergency”. Emails stored with children’s files. Consent now included on an updated enrolment form
