- The following policy and procedure were available and reviewed but lacked some of the information required or did not reflect the practices in the service: • The service had a detailed supervision of staff policy however the generic template policy had not been adapted for the service and the practices detailed in the policy were not those practiced in the service as confirmed by the registered provider
Provider's corrective action:
- Staff supervision policy has been updated and adapted to the service. Policy will be updated annually or as needed

- The following policies and procedures were available and reviewed but lacked some of the information required: • Recruitment policy • Policy on health eating The service did not have the following policies and procedures which were required for the service: • Policy on accidents and incidents, • Risk management policy, • Supervision of staff policy It is acknowledged that some of the information required for an accident and incident policy and a risk management policy were contained within the services safety statement but as it did not contain all the information required nor detail the procedures to be followed, it cannot be considered to replace these required policies and procedures
Provider's corrective action:
- The service have updated all policies required and forwarded them on to the inspectorate. The service will monitor and update all policy requirements as needed

The healthy eating policy did not outline the following: • How food is safety stored and served. - The following statement was received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action 1. The infection control policy now outlines the management of perishable foods. Policies will be reviewed on a yearly basis. 2.The healthy eating policy now outlines how food is safely stored and served. Policies will be reviewed on a yearly basis

- 1. The services policy on administration of medication did not contain the following required information to meet the regulatory requirements. • The procedure for safe labelling and storage of children’s medication. • The timeframe for record retention. • The procedure for dealing with individual care plans. This causes a risk of the wrong medication and procedure being used during administration. 2. The services policy on healthy eating called the diet and nutrition policy did not outline the following: • How food is safely stored and served. • State that parents’ and guardians’ choices are supported. Unsafe storage of food can cause an infection control risk. 3. The policy on outdoor play did not set out the procedure for carrying out risk assessments

- The following statement was received from the registered provider: Corrective and Preventive Action 1. A new medication management policy was written and implemented. The service plans to update its policies. 2. The healthy eating policy was updated to include the required information. The service plans to update its policies. 3. The service has a risk assessment sheet introduced and will evaluate and make changes as needed going forward

- 1. On the day of inspection, the registered provider stated that the service did not have a policy on outdoor play. This is a regulatory requirement. 2. The services policy on accident and incidents did not contain the required information to meet the regulatory requirements. The policy requires updating in relation to risk assessments following an incident and storage of the records. 3. On inspection, the service did not have a supervision policy in place. This is a regulatory requirement. The inspector was unable to assess if adequate supervision was taking place
