Klaine Childcare LTD, Castleblayney · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels
- (1) During the period of inspection there were not an adequate number of adults working directly with the children attending the pre-school service at all times. (2) The following adult: child ratios which were observed in the Busy Bees Room during the inspection were incorrect: From 9am – 11.25am there were 15 preschool children (aged 3-4 years) attending this room with 1 qualified staff member and 2 students. A second qualified adult arrived to the room at 11.25am and remained for the rest of the inspection. Two qualified adults are required at all times to satisfy the requirements of this regulation
Provider's corrective action:
- The service has hired another full-time member of staff and are awaiting vetting. The registered provider has also introduced an emergency staff ration procedure and risk assessment, going forward. The registered provider will also use relief staff when necessary. The emergency staff ratio procedure and risk assessment will be applied when 2 staff are unable to attend

- (1) During the period of inspection there were not an adequate number of adults working directly with the children attending the pre-school service. (2) The following adult: child ratios which were observed in the Toddler Room during the inspection were incorrect: There were 7 preschool children (aged 2 years) attending this room with 1 staff. Two adults were required at all times to satisfy the requirement of this regulation
Provider's corrective action:
- (1)and(2) One Child has moved to the preschool room reducing the ratio in the toddler room to 1:6. The child fully transitioned to this room on Friday 13/03/2026 and the decision was made in partnership with the child’s parents, following careful consideration and review of the child’s stage of development. The ratio in the preschool room is now 22:2. The registered provider is continually striving to recruit new additional staff members. The service will reduce the number of childcare places for next year should it be unable to fill positions to ensure sufficient staffing levels are within compliance requirements to meet the needs of all children

Tiny’s Day Nursery Ltd, Castleblayney · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels
- 1. When the inspectors arrived unannounced to the service in the Marvelous Monkeys there were 18 preschool children aged 1 year 3 months to 2 years and 6 months with 3 staff members. Four members of staff were required. It is acknowledged that a fourth member of staff returned to the room at approximately 10.30am as they had been on their break from 10 – 10.30am
Provider's corrective action:
- 1. A whole nursery approach will be adapted to ensure short breaks are covered efficiently to ensure ratio’s are kept correct at all times. All staff breaks are on the team rota and cover is added for all breaks
