- The adult child ratios were not always maintained on the afternoon of the inspection. For example: At 14:15 There were 9 preschool and 17 school age children in the care of two staff while an additional staff member went to collect children from school. A minimum of 3 staff were required to care for this number of children. At 15:15 There were 5 preschool and 17 school age children in the care of two staff where a minimum of 3 staff were required
Provider's corrective action:
- Another member of staff who was working in our school age service has achieved their level 5 in Early Childhood Care and Education and is now also working directly with our preschool children. The registered provider will ensure going forward the adult child ratios are always maintained in the service

- This regulation was non-compliant on inspection in April 2025 and September 2024. The corrective and preventive actions submitted by the registered provider failed to achieve or sustain compliance concerning adequate staffing levels. (1) The registered provider did not ensure that there were sufficient staff working directly with children, as demonstrated by the following findings: 1. Inspectors observed inadequate staffing levels to facilitate staff taking breaks during the second day of inspection. Through discussion with staff, a review of the roster and sign-in sheets, it was evident that there was no additional staff available to care for the children while staff were taking lunch breaks. It was confirmed with staff members that staff breaks started at 12pm, and during the inspection staff breaks were observed to finished at approx. 2.30pm. 2. There was an inadequate number of adults available within the service on day 2 between 12.40pm to 2.06pm to cater for the needs of the children in the Juniors room. This is further demonstrated under Regulation 19. Health, welfare and development of child (2) The registered provider did not ensure that the minimum ratio of adults to children was adhered to at all times. This was found non-compliant on the previous inspection in April 2025, and September 2024. While all staff rostered to work on the day 2 were present, the number of staff available was insufficient to ensure that the minimum adult to child ratio was maintained at all times. From 12.40pm until 2.06pm, there was one adult in the Juniors room with two children aged 2 to 3 years and four children aged 1 to 2 years. Based on the age of the children and the type of service they were attending, a minimum of two adults were required at this time. A sample of children’s attendance records, staff sign-in/out records and rosters was reviewed. However, it was not possible to determine that the minimum adult-to-child ratio was maintained on the dates sampled, as the staff breaks were not recorded on these records
Provider's corrective action:
- 1. We have two staff members that cover lunches as our lunch hours are only a half hour. Lunch cover has been added to the staff rota. We find this difficult to give 100% honest answer. But will work it to the best of our ability. The registered provider has put an ad online to employ an extra member of staff. 2. The registered provider understands on the day the service should have been more aware of the ages in the rooms. The rota has been revised to ensure the adult to child ratio is covered at all times. While rooms are covered at the moment, the registered provider has advertised for another member of staff. The service has not got any suitable applicants as of yet
- There are two staff allocated to the junior room at all times. Rota has included lunch cover to ensure adult to child ratio is kept. The service are actively looking for more staff. The registered provider has advertised for another member of staff. The registered provider will make sure to adhere to the ratios and keep an eye on ages

- On the day of inspection there was inadequate number of staff working directly with the children for a time in the chimp room. During the morning there were 10 children in the care of 1 staff member. Based on the numbers of children present two staff were required to meet the needs of the children in the room
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider submitted the following response: Corrective and Preventive Action A staff meeting was held after the inspection. Everyone was reminded of the importance of maintaining correct ratios when a staff member is absent. On the morning of inspection there was enough educators in the building but unfortunately, they were not allocated correctly. This responsibility is for the person in charge. All deputy managers will revisit the QRF beginning in September

Kidz Korner Creche and Montessori, Newbawn · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels
- On the day of inspection there was not an adequate number of staff working directly with the children attending the preschool service at all times. The following was observed: (2)1. The attendance records were reviewed. On the morning of the inspection there were 20 children registered between 8.00am and 9.00am. There were 2 staff in the service as noted on the staff roster. Based on the number and ages of the children 3 were required at that time
- The children from the baby room were in the outdoor area at 11.20am. There were 6 children aged between 1 and 2 years of age in the care of 1 staff member. Based on the number and ages of the children 2 staff were required
- At 11.20am in the outdoor area the children from the toddler room were in the care of one staff member. There were 8 children in the care of 1 staff. 3 children aged from 1 to 2 years of age; 5 children aged from 2 to 3 years of age. Based on the numbers and ages of the children 2 staff were required
- At 12.50pm 11 children from the provider’s second service joined the children in the ECCE room. The ECCE sessional group was completed, and the children remaining were now attending for full day care. At that time there were 2 staff members with 20 children in the ECCE room. Based on the numbers and ages of the children 3 staff were required
- At 2.40pm the service remained out of ratios with regard to the children attending the ECCE room. There were 18 children from the ECCE room aged between 3 and 6 years in the outdoor area in the care of 2 staff. Based on the numbers and ages of the children 3 staff were required. The registered provider was found non-compliant under Regulation 11 on previous inspections carried out in the service on 6 June 2019 and 16 September 2021. A corrective and preventative action was submitted to the inspectorate following these two inspections. The corrective and preventive actions stated by the registered provider failed to ensure that minimum ratios of adults to children were maintained on the day of inspection
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider has advertised to recruit additional staff to the service. Parents have been informed that their children will only be facilitated in the service when staff ratios can be maintained. There is a new staff roster in place in the service
