Just 4 Kids Crèche, Portarlington · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels
- An adequate number of adults were not working directly with the preschool children in the Daffodil room. One staff member was caring for 10 preschool children aged between 3-5 years for the duration of the inspection. Two staff members were required to maintain the adult to child ratio
- The registered provider did not ensure that the minimum ratio of adults to children was maintained for the Daffodil room, 10 children aged between 3-5 years were being supervised directly by one adult
Provider's corrective action:
- The number of children in the Daffodil room has been reduced to 8 children as the ECCE calendar children have finished. The registered provider has adjusted the room numbers to make sure they are correct for September. More communication with manager on staff roster going forward. Summary Comment The inspector has reviewed the corrective and preventive actions taken. The non-compliances identified under Regulation 11 have been addressed

- 1. There were two adults caring for thirteen years children aged 2 years 8 months – six years. One adult did not have documentary evidence of qualification and is not counted in the adult to child ratio for the care room. Two qualified adults were required to maintain the correct adult child ratio
Provider's corrective action:
- 1. The third staff on the day is not employed in the service

Durrow Pre-School No 2, Tullamore · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels
- 1. In Green room there were three adults caring for eight children aged 2 to 3 years. Two adults were students and unqualified. Students on placement are there for learning purposes and are not part of the staff ratios. They are not counted in the adult to child ratio for the care room . Two qualified adults were required to maintain the correct adult child ratio for the Green room
Provider's corrective action:
- 1. Registered provider has taken over the role until a new staff member is recruited with a minimum level 5 in childcare and education . All staff have to have at least a minimum level 5 in childcare and education before working with the early years
