Ionad Curam Paistí t/a Spraoi Le Chéile, Dungloe · Regulation 27 — Supervision
- Contrary to TUSLA ‘Guidance for the early learning and care sector on sleep provision for children under 24 months’, children under 24 months sleeping on stackable floor beds were not supervised appropriately as no adult remained in the room while the children slept in the ‘Toddler room’ on the afternoon of the inspection
Provider's corrective action:
- All stackable beds are now placed in the main playroom and only cots are kept in the sleep room. Staff are made aware that if children require stackable bed, supervision must be maintained

Amanda's Cots'N'Tots Creche, Clonmany · Regulation 27 — Supervision
- In the sleep room, children over the age of 2 years were observed to sleep on floor mattresses. Although staff carried out physical sleep checks every 10 minutes, no staff member remained in the room to supervise the children
Provider's corrective action:
- Children who sleep on floor mattresses are now supervised by staff at all times while they are asleep. We will review the new sleep guidance as we were not aware of this requirement

LMNO Childcare, Letterkenny · Regulation 27 — Supervision
- On the day between 12:20 and 13:00, children over the age of two years of age in the sleep room did not have any adult supervision. Adults on site completed ten-minute sleep checks, however the required supervision for sleeping children in this age group is that an adult has to be present and required adult child ratios maintained
Provider's corrective action:
- The registered provider responded: The children over 2 years old who sleep are now supervised by an adult who stays in the room with them, rather than just with the cameras and microphones. 10-minute checks will continue on all sleeping children

Bundoran Community Childcare, Bundoran · Regulation 27 — Supervision
- 1. Supervision in the toddler rooms did not meet regulatory requirements on the day of inspection. The inspector observed a child climbing unsupervised up the steps in the nappy changing area and onto the nappy changing unit, creating a potential safety risk. This was immediately brought to the attention of staff, and the child was promptly removed from the area
Provider's corrective action:
- 1. The registered provider addressed a supervision concern with the staff member involved on the day of inspection and highlighted the dangers of inadequate supervision. At the team meeting, Regulation 27 – Supervision was discussed at length. It was acknowledged that the incident represented a serious safety issue. To prevent recurrence, a safety gate was installed inside the first door to prevent children from accessing the steps alone. At least one staff member will always maintain full attention on the children
