Inspection of 17 June 2026 — Inspection Report

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: See Statutory Notice section in relation to Improvement IN0129 served. Infection Control: 1. There were no waterproof mattress protectors on the five cots in the sleep room. These are required to keep the mattress hygienic and dry by preventing liquids from soaking into it. Administration of Medication: 2. The service did not have a care plan for a child who had been prescribed medication in the event of an emergency. A care plan is required to provide clear instructions to all staff on what signs to look for in the event of an emergency. It would ensure the safe accurate and consistent administration of the medication was given and outlines emergency responses in case of an adverse reaction or a medical event. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
  • Infection Control: The service purchased five new waterproof mattresses. These waterproof mattresses have been positioned on the five cots in the baby room. Administration of Medication: Medication care plans in place provide clear instructions to all staff of signs of an emergency; information on how to administer the medication; outlines emergency response in case of an adverse event or a medical event. Medication care plans will be required for all children prescribed medication

Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment

  • (2)(a)&(b) Two references were not available from a past employer or a source other than a past employer for one member of staff
Provider's corrective action:
  • (2) (a) & (b) Two verified references were submitted for this staff member. One of these references was not suitable and could not be accepted. The service will ensure going forward all references are verified and checked before staff members commence work in the setting

Regulation 15 — Record of pre-school child

  • (i) There was no written parental consent for medical treatment for two children in the event of an emergency
Provider's corrective action:
  • Written parental consent for medical treatment for two children was sought. All children’s records have been checked to ensure all appropriate signatures are in place. Management have agreed that both managers will check the children’s registration forms when families are starting in the service

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: The fire door in the main hall was propped open with a chair on the day of inspection. Fire doors should be closed at all times in order to prevent fire and harmful fumes spreading to other areas of the building. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
  • General Safety: The service has placed a sign on the door informing staff and families who enter the setting that the main middle door is a fire door and should remain closed at all times. The service has spoken to staff to make sure that during drop offs in the morning and collections in the evening, a member of staff (either practitioner or Housekeeper) will be stationed near the door to ensure it is kept closed
