Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
- General Safety: 1. Garda vetting was available for the registered provider and six staff members. However, one vetting disclosure was not dated within the previous three years in adherence to with the Early Years Inspectorate Regulatory Notice ‘EYI-RN12.3 Renewal of Garda Vetting. 2. A loose hose was accessible to children in the outdoor area, leading to a risk of injury
Provider's corrective action:
- 1. Garda vetting has been applied for. All staff and the owners garda vetting will be checked at the start of every year and noted in the diary to apply for it when due. 2. The hose has been removed from the tap in the outside area. At present there is no hose in use. In the future if a hose is fitted it will be one that is easily put on and removed by staff who will then store it away from children. The person in charge will follow up on making sure its implemented and staff have removed the hose before children go outside to play. This is only if a hose is sourced otherwise there will be no hose in use
Regulation 24 — Checking in and out and record of attendance
- (1) On inspection of the daily attendance register at 10.18am and at 10.52am, 17 children were present in the service and 18 children were signed in as being present, one child had not been signed out on leaving the service at 9.30am
Provider's corrective action:
- (1) The service has added an extra sign in and sign out on the day that a child or children have appointments. The person in charge plus the supervisor will check all room that children are been signed in and out throughout the day to prevent this happening in the future
