General Safety: 1. There was a number of gaps present between the square matting in the outdoor play area posing of injury to children. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
General Safety: Some of the worn matting in the outdoor area has been replaced with new outdoor mats. Some areas have been re-fitted where the gaps were, to minimise the risk of falling. The steps taken have improved the health and safety of the outdoor area. The new outdoor mats have lessoned the possibility of gaps forming in the future as they are more compacted. As a preauction, the outdoor area will be checked each morning to ensure the matting has not moved. A supply of sand will be available to place between any gaps in the matting as a backup measure
Found compliant: Regulation 9, 10, 11, 19, 22, 25, 26.
Immediate action notice. An Immediate Action Notice was issued to the Registered Provider in respect of the temperature of the warm water recorded at 60 degrees Celsius at the sink in the children’s sanitary accommodation located upstairs. The registered provider submitted a written response outlining the measures taken to eliminate the concern identified. Part III – Management and Staff

The temperature of the warm water at the sink in the upstairs children’s sanitary accommodation was recorded at 60 degrees Celsius and at the sink in the adult sanitary accommodation it was recorded at 59.6 degrees Celsius posing a risk of scalding. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
The registered provider stated that the inspector was informed that the non-compliance had been rectified, a registered plumber installed a new thermostat in each of the upstairs bathrooms and the water temperature was set at 40 degrees Celsius to ensure compliance. Following a staff meeting it was agreed that the water temperature in the 3 bathrooms will be checked on a monthly basis to ensure the thermostat is working effectively and the water temperature meets with the requirements of regulation 23. Going forward the staff will record the temperature of the warm water; the record will be displayed on the back of bathroom doors. If the temperature is above the required temperature of 43 degrees staff will inform the registered provider immediately and a different bathroom will be used until the problem is identified and resolved by a plumber
Regulation 25 — First aid
(2)(a) The first aid bag was not suitably stocked and a number of the individually wrapped sterile, unmedicated wound dressings and sterile eye pads were out of date and not fit for purpose. The following items were not in stock in addition to the contents provided: - • Water burns dressings (1 small and 1 large) • Crepe bandage (7cm) (2)
Provider's corrective action:
The registered provider stated that all the out-of-date items in the first aid bag have been replaced with new in date items. To ensure compliance going forward a list with the expiry date of the first aid contents is now on display on the notice board downstairs for the staff to check and on the notice board in the upstairs office. Items will be replaced as required
Regulation 26 — Fire safety measures
(b) The records provided for inspection indicated that the smoke alarm was not serviced on an annual basis
Provider's corrective action:
The registered provider stated that: - The fire alarm company was contacted to carry out an inspection on the fire alarm syste m. A quarterly maintenance contract with fire alarm servicing company is set up to ensure the fire alarm system is checked and maintained throughout the year to ensure compliance
Regulation 29 — Premises
(c)The air temperature of the children’s sanitary accommodation and the adult sanitary accommodation located on the first floor was recorded at 15 degrees Celsius respectively
Provider's corrective action:
The registered provider stated that the owner of premises was contacted regarding the radiators and they were repaired. At a staff meeting it was decided that the staff will check the room temperature, there are 4 thermometers in place in the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms to ensure the room temperature is maintained
