In the baby room, staff members could not sit comfortably and hold and comfort the young children when required throughout the day as there was no adult sized armchair provided. This was evident when adults were trying to comfort children prior to sleep time in a plastic chair with no arm support or on the floor and when feeding the younger children. This was identified on the services last inspection on the 25 February 2025 and actions submitted by the registered provider were not observed to be present on the day

Provider's corrective action:

In a written response the registered provider submitted a picture of an adult-sized armchair

One of the doors in the wooden toy kitchen was in a state of disrepair and hanging down and another door was not closed properly

Provider's corrective action:

The two cabinets that were noted during the inspection were repaired . Both hinges needed tightened and adjusted to allow the doors to close flush with the cabinets. The room assistant will carry out a daily check of furniture, toys, equipment etc and report any breakages or damage. These notes will then be addressed and resolved as quickl y as possible. This check has been added to the daily Risk Assessment

(1) Out of the 16 books available in the perspex book box in the Waddler care room 12 were observed to be damaged. The books were torn, crumpled and pages were missing, potentially reducing the children’s enjoyment in being able to see the pictures and follow the full story. (2) The inspector observed that a table in use in the home corner of the Toddler care room was in a poor state of repair. There were several areas where the paint had flaked on the table making it difficult for the children to use the table effectively during play. (3) Two shatter proof wall mirrors in the Waddler care room were worn and ineffective, reducing the children’s ability to explore their own appearance

Provider's corrective action:

The following statements were received from the registered provider; (1) The books in the Waddler care room have been replaced. Management will meet, on a monthly basis, with room leaders to discuss the replacement of used and broken resources. (2) The table in the Toddler care room has been covered with vinyl contact to enable the children to be able use the table. (3) The worn mirrors were removed from the Waddler room and replaced with a new mirror

It was observed that one child in the baby room and six of the fifteen children attending the cruiser room were sitting on chairs that were too high to allow the children to sit with their feet on the floor for balance and stability

Provider's corrective action:

We have placed some lower chairs into this classroom to make sure the children’s feet touch the floor at all times. A mixture of differing height of chairs should be in storage and available for children different heights

1. The wooden seat pad of the outdoor see-saw was observed to be jagged in parts and required replacing. 2. Two damaged and broken scooters were observed by the inspector in the outdoor area; it is acknowledged these items were removed by staff when brought to their attention

Provider's corrective action:

1. The damaged seat pad has been replaced. This update has been added to the risk assessment sheet and will be monitored weekly. 2. A full check of all toys and equipment was carried out by the maintenance team. All damaged items have been removed, and monitoring of playground toys and equipment has been added to the risk assessment
