Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
- General Safety: 1. Electrical wires from Christmas lights which were located at the rest area and also adjacent to the play area at the back of the room were not secured, posing a safety risk. Infection Control: 2. The bin in the sanitary area was not pedal operated, which increases the risk of cross infection. 3. The paper towels available to the children in the sanitary area were on a roll which caused overhandling of the towel prior to hand washing increasing the risk of cross infection. Administration of Medication: 4. There was no medication available to reduce a child’s temperature, in the event of a child developing a high temperature while attending the pre-school
Provider's corrective action:
- Corrective & Preventive Action General Safety: 1.The electrical wires have now been clipped to the wall using closed clips. At the start of each day, we will check the clips on the wall to make sure that there are no wires hanging down. if any wires are hanging down make sure to securely clip them to the wall. Infection Control: 2.The bin in the sanitary area has been replaced with a pedal operated bin. Going forward pedal operated bins only will be used in the sanitary area at all times. 3.A dispenser with single use paper towels is now in use. We will check the stock available daily and order as needed. Administration of Medication: 4.Medication is now available which can be used if a child has a high temperature. This will be checked regularly and replace as needed
