Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment
- (2) (a) The second reference on file for one staff member was from the current service. A review of the staff members employment record demonstrated that they had past employment outside of the current service therefore a reference from the most recent past employment was required for this staff member. (4) It could not be determined from the information provided, that one staff member employed in a relief capacity in the service had obtained a major award in Early Childhood Care and Education at level 5 or above on the National Framework of Qualifications
Provider's corrective action:
- (2) (a) We obtained a further reference from the file in the main office and have added this to the file in the service. We will ensure that if staff have worked elsewhere that a reference will be provided by a different provider as requested in future. (4) The staff member is in her third year of BSC Hons Eary Years Degree Programme in ATU Letterkenny. The college provided a summary of the qualifications and stated that these where in line with a level 6 QQI qualification. As required by the DCEDIY list of recognised qualifications. We have asked the staff member to apply to the DCEDIY for further clarification and share a copy upon receipt of the same

- (1) The service failed to notify the Agency of the change to the person in charge. It was noted on inspection that the person in charge as notified to the Agency had been employed to cover a period of leave and had not been working in the service for some time
Provider's corrective action:
- We have updated our records with TUSLA, through the CIC request form. We will ensure that this oversight will not happen in the future
