Regulation 15 — Record of pre-school child

  • The service did not maintain a written record of the following required information. (1)(g) The name and telephone number of the child’s registered medical practitioner was not present on any of the 10 sampled forms. (h) Record of immunisations, if any, was not present for seven of the sampled forms
Provider's corrective action:
  • (1)(g) The name and contact number of each child’s medical practitioner has been added to the enrolment forms of all children currently in the service. (h) Immunisation records have been received from parents of all children vaccinated and are now on file with their registration

Regulation 10 — Policies, procedures etc. of pre-school service

  • The following policies and procedures did not contain sufficient information for staff and parents of the service: 1. The policy on accidents and incidents did not detail how notifiable incidents are to be informed to the Early Years Inspectorate or measures to be taken in the service to prevent accidents and incidents. 2. The policy on settling in did not have sufficient information on how the transition to preschool is supported or how the continuity of care is maintained. There was no information on how staff members are supported to enable effective transitions
Provider's corrective action:
  • 1. Accident and incident policy has been updated to include details of how notifiable incidents are to be informed to the early years inspectorate and measures taken to prevent accidents and incidents. 2. Settling in policy has been updated to include further information for parents/guardians on our approach to supporting transitions for their child, continuity of care and staff supports. Policies and procedures to be reviewed annually or sooner if necessary
