Inspection of 21 February 2023 — Inspection Report

Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service

  • (i) Details of the staff attendance on a daily basis were not accurately kept with staff attendance including the starting and finishing work not recorded for some days in the service
Provider's corrective action:
  • The registered provider advised in a written response that: Corrective and Preventive Action
  • (i) The staff attendance records have been revised to clearly indicate date and time of arrival and departure for every day in service. The staff roster will be checked on a daily basis, this will be implemented and monitored by the service provider

Regulation 19 — Health, welfare and development of child

  • At mealtime, two children were observed to eat packets of crisps as part of their snacks. This was contrary to the service’s healthy eating policy that detailed that crisps were not permitted in the service
Provider's corrective action:
  • The registered provider advised in a written response that:
  • Corrective and Preventive Action • The registered provider and staff will continuously implement the Healthy Eating Policy with the parents and remove packets of crisps from lunch boxes on arrival of the children. • All staff will have refresher training on the Healthy Eating Policy and implementation of same will be monitored by registered provider. Summary Comment The actions taken by the registered provider have been reviewed by the Early Years Inspectorate and deemed to have addressed the regulatory non-compliance found on inspection

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: • A warm kettle and a sharp bread knife were stored near the sink area of the playroom and were potentially accessible by children posing a risk of injury. Action submitted by the Registered Provider The registered provider advised in a written response that:

  • General Safety: • The kettle and bread knife were removed from the playroom. • The staff will no longer use the kettle or bread knife in the playroom
