Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment

  • (2) (a) & (b) 4 references with records of validation were not on file in respect of 2 adults
Provider's corrective action:
  • The 4 references for the 2 students were sought and validated. All the students and volunteers must complete all the details requested and submit the required documentation including the 2 references before any work placements are secured

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: 1. A shelving unit located in the pre-school was not secured to the wall, posing a risk of injury to children. 2. Within the outdoor play area, there was a section of a timber planter and a section of a timber seat with loose timber splinters posing a risk of injury to children. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
  • General Safety: 1. The shelving unit has been securely attached to the wall. Any furniture that is moved or relocated must be risk assessed. 2. Repairs have been made to the timber planter and seat to make them safe. A plan to examine how best to maintain and prevent weathering of the timber structures will be investigated

  • (2)(d) Police Vetting was not on file for 1 adult who resided outside the jurisdiction for a period of longer than 6 months
Provider's corrective action:
  • The registered provider stated that the paper trail to support the application for Police Vetting was sent to the early years inspector on 26.02.’24. A hard copy of the International Child Protection Certificate U.K. (dated 22.02.’24) received is now on file. Checks will be made during recruitment so any candidates who have lived longer than 6 months in any other country will have Police Vetting
