Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
- General Safety: 1. In the girls toilet air freshener spray was beside the wash hand basin and within reach of the children posing a potential safety risk. Infection Control: 2. Prior to snack children washed their hands in a communal basin of warm soapy water and shared a cloth towel. This practice posed a potential infection control risk. Administration of Medication: 3. The temperature reducing medication available had passed its expiry date posing a safety risk in the event it was required. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
- General Safety: 1. The air freshener was removed. Infection Control: 2. Children now wash their hands in the sanitary area and dry them with paper towel. Administration of Medication: 3. Temperature reducing medication has been removed as it was out of date. Parents have been informed that their child must not be sent in if they have a temperature or are unwell. Our policies and procedures have been amended to reflect this
