Regulation 16 — Record in relation to pre-school service

  • (h) The registered provider did not ensure children’s attendance had been recorded on day 1 of inspection. The attendance record for the day was blank when reviewed by the inspector at 12:25pm
Provider's corrective action:
  • Corrective Action The registered provider has adapted the morning routine to include taking each child’s attendance on arrival and logging the exact time on the attendance register. This change had been implemented on 10 February 2026, the day after the first inspection. The time of departure for each child is recorded at home time. Preventive Action The registered provider communicated to parents that the time would be double checked with them on arrival as their child’s attendance is recorded. The registered provider shared a new policy with parents via email. The policy includes the registered providers commitment to review the practice and procedure on a monthly basis

Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child

  • General Safety: 1. One grape was observed not to be sliced in half for one child on day 2 of the inspection. This posed a choking hazard for the child. It is acknowledged that the registered provider cut the grape when brought to their attention by the inspector. Infection Control: 2. Although a fridge was on the premises, the children’s packed lunches supplied from home were not refrigerated on arrival to the service on day 2. This increased the risk of bacteria growth in perishable food items. Action submitted by the Registered Provider Corrective Action General Safety: 1. The registered provider has introduced a policy to outline the requirement for all fruit, especially grapes, to be chopped before inclusion in lunchboxes. This updated policy is effective from 13 February 2026. Preventive Action General Safety: 1. The registered provider has shared the policy with parents via email. The policy includes the registered providers commitment to review the practice and procedure on a monthly basis. Corrective Action Infection Control: 2. The registered provider has reverted to the previous practice at Jumblies of storing all perishable food in the fridge. The fridge is now accessible again and back in use, 13 February 2026. Preventive Action Infection Control: 1. The registered provider has updated the policy on the storage of perishable food and shared it with parents via email. The policy includes the registered providers commitment to review the practice and procedure on a monthly basis. Supporting documentation submitted • Photograph of message to parents alerting them to new policy. • Copy of policy updates. • Photograph of fridge. Summary Comment The inspector has reviewed the actions and evidence submitted. The non-compliances under Regulation 23 have been addressed
