Regulation 9 — Management and recruitment
- The registered provider did not ensure the following: (2) (a)(b) One adult had only one validated reference available for inspection. (4) There was no documentary evidence available that three of the four adults working directly with the children held the required qualifications or documentary evidence of a qualification deemed eligible by the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Affairs
Provider's corrective action:
- (2) (a)(b) A second reference was sourced and validated. The service ensure they will maintain accurate staff documentation. (4) The service engages in ongoing communication with the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth Affairs with regards to the qualification criteria. The HR department continues to favour and screen for those with a qualification in Early Child Care and Education and recognition from the teaching council
Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child
- Infection Control: 1. There was no thermostatically controlled warm water in the three sinks in the sanitary accommodation. Temperature ranges of between 12.9oC and 15.8oC were recorded by the inspector. This did not support effective handwashing practices. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
- Infection Control: 1. A thermostat has been installed to control the temperature of the warm water to support effective handwashing procedures and the Person in charge (class teacher) to continue to perform regular checks of equipment
