Safe Sleep: The ambient temperature of the cot room used by children attending the Yellow room (children aged 0 – 2 years) was not maintained between 16 and 20oC, posing an increased risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). The service and the inspector’s thermometer readings were 22.4oC at 10:43 when one child was sleeping. The window was opened when this was brought to the attention of staff and management. However, the temperature did not fall below 21oC. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
Safe Sleep: The service has arranged to have a smart air conditioning wall unit installed in the cot room to ensure the ambient temperature is always maintained between 16 and 20oC. The installation is scheduled in the coming weeks. The temperature of the room will be monitored daily and regulated with the assistance of the unit

Provider's corrective action:
An application was made for the outstanding police vetting. However, the staff member has resigned since the inspection. Vetting will be obtained prior to employment when an employee has resided outside of Ireland for a period of longer than six months as an adult

Infection Control: Appropriate procedures for preventing the spread of infection when changing children’s nappies were not followed. Inspectors observed staff re-dressing children and cleaning the changing mat wearing gloves that were used to remove soiled/wet nappies, posing a risk of cross contamination. Action submitted by the Registered Provider
Provider's corrective action:
Infection Control: All staff will change gloves after changing a nappy and before re-dressing children and cleaning the changing mat. The nappy changing procedure includes this step. All staff have been re-trained on the procedure and agreed to abide by the procedure for all nappy changes. The onsite manager will observe nappy changes to ensure that the procedure is followed step by step to prevent any cross contamination and ensure infection control. The nappy changing procedure is posted at all nappy changing stations for staff undertaking this task
