The ceiling fitting mechanical unit did not appear to be working. The room was warm and stuffy. Two wall mounted air circulation fans were observed in use - We have had the electrician access the vent in the nappy changing room. He has advised us that he has ordered the replacement vent and will be fitted as soon as possible. Monitor all vents monthly to ensure they are working properly 12 February 2026 ##### [Tip Toes Community Childcare Centre](/creche/tip-toes-community-childcare-centre-waterford.md), Waterford · Regulation 29 — Premises - The premises was not sufficiently maintained and repaired, examples of this were observed in the hallways, nappy changing and Daisy room: • Build-up of dirt and grime on the floor covering at edges and corners. • Chipped paint and exposed raw timber on radiator covers. • Broken hinge guard on door to nappy changing area - Radiator covers have been repaired and repainted. A new finger guard has been installed on the nappy room door. All floors in the building have been professionally cleaned. Furniture and its state of repair have been added to daily checklists 28 January 2026 ##### [Kilmacthomas Montessori School](/creche/kilmacthomas-montessori-school-kilmacthomas.md), Kilmacthomas · Regulation 29 — Premises - 1. The outdoor area at the rear of the premises was not well-maintained. There were weeds, and moss growing through the cracks in the concrete and two stacks of unsecured pallets which were accessible to the children. This was a non-compliance on the previous two inspections in August 2023 and April 2025. 2. There was evidence of the rooms not being thoroughly cleaned with mould observed on the walls of the children’s care rooms and in the sanitary areas and spiders’ webs on the windows of the children’s toilets - 1. The registered providers stated that they were waiting for a dry day to treat the surface of the outdoor area. 2. The registered providers have installed de-humidifiers and placed them in each room to remove excess moisture. Once the walls have dried out, they will treat and paint them. In the meantime, the wall has been washed and the mould removed. The staff are now aware that’s the rooms require a thorough cleaning regularly. A comprehensive cleaning checklist has been developed. This was discussed at the team meeting 23 January 2026 ##### [Discovery Bay Preschool](/creche/discovery-bay-preschool-dunmore-east.md), Dunmore East · Regulation 29 — Premises - 1. The fire hose was loose and unravelling, which could pose a risk of the child pulling at it. 2. It was noted there was water lying in a drain in the garden area, and it appeared to be stagnant. This posed risk of illness to the children playing in the garden. 3. In the Jumping Jellyfish room there was a hole in the wall at the children’s level, the foam insulation was visible. This created a risk of injury to a child if they ingested it. 4. The floor covering in the hallway from the care rooms to the sanitary area was worn and not sealed. As a result, it could not be cleaned effectively - The registered provider stated that a daily site inspection form has been developed and the maintenance man has completed the tasks as follows: 1. The fire hose has been reinstated. 2. The drain has been fixed and covered. 3. The hole in the wall has been filled and plastered. 4. The floor covering will be replaced in the coming days 11 June 2024 ##### [The Children's House Montessori](/creche/the-children-s-house-montessori-waterford-city.md), Waterford City · Regulation 29 — Premises - There was no water flowing from one of the two sinks directly beside the two toilets which were available for the children attending the service. Warm thermostatically controlled water is required to support handwashing in a preschool service. Two toilets and two sinks are required for the number of children the service is registered to cater for - There was a large hole in the plaster in the preschool room to the rear of the service which needed to be repaired - 1 The plumber has added another connection to allow warm water to the second sink in the bathroom - The hole in the plaster was caused by an electrician who was installing an outdoor light.
