An inspection records what inspectors saw **on one day**; services respond with corrective actions — [how to read this](/methodology.md). 30 June 2026 ##### [Punchbowl Creche LTD T/A First Friends Creche](/creche/punchbowl-creche-ltd-t-a-first-friends-creche-gort.md), Gort · Regulation 25 — First aid - (b) There were a number of items missing from the first aid box, compromising the care of the children in the event of an accident, these included: • Sterile eye pads • 2 triangular bandages • 2 medium wound dressings • Burns Gel • Sterile water - The following statement was received from the registered provider; - (b) All missing items have been replaced and staff will check regularly and replenish as required 19 May 2026 ##### [Amy's Montessori and Afterschool](/creche/amy-s-montessori-and-afterschool-renmore-road.md), Renmore Road · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) There was no person on the premises with a current First Aid Responder (FAR) certificate. The certificate on file for the adult on the premises was dated 07/07/2024 - (b) The following supplies in the first aid box were out of date, posing a risk of ineffective cleaning of wounds; • Three vials of saline solution with expiry dates of 10/2018. • Alcohol wipes with expiry dates of 2014 and 2019 - The following statements were received from the registered provider; (1) Two adults in the service have completed First Aid Responder (FAR) training. Management will ensure that there is an adult with FAR training available while the early years children are present in the service - (b) The out of date first aid supplies have been replaced. Management will check supplies on a monthly basis and replace any out of date or missing items 23 February 2026 ##### [Socrates Learning Ltd t/a Spraoi Early Learning Centre](/creche/socrates-learning-ltd-t-a-spraoi-early-learning-centre-tuam.md), Tuam · Regulation 25 — First aid - 23/02/2026 An immediate action notice was issued to the service. On the day of inspection, there was not a person trained in First Aid Responder on the premises when the inspectors arrived on the premises. 24/02/26 The registered provider submitted a response outlining an action plan to ensure that there were enough adults appropriately trained in first aid available to the children while they attended the service - The registered provider stated in their response that: Corrective and Preventive Action Two adults have completed their first aid responder and are rostered during the operational hours of the service 19 September 2025 ##### [Galway Steiner Kindergarten CLG](/creche/galway-steiner-kindergarten-clg-knocknacarra.md), Knocknacarra · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) (b) The inspector observed that the following supplies with expired dates in the first aid box: • Sterile moist wipes dated 2024-10 • Small dressings dated 2023-01 x 3 • Eye dressings dated 205-05 x 5 • Medium dressings dated 2505-05 x 1 • In addition, a triangular bandage with a ripped wrapper was visible compromising the sterility of the bandage and there was no burn gel available should a child or adult receive a burn, posing a risk that immediate treatment was available in the service to halt the impact of the burn - The following statement was received from the registered provider; - (b) All the out-of-date supplies have been replaced and burn gel is now available. The first aid checklist with the temperature reducing medication and the burn gel added will be checked for expiry dates and replacement supplies at the monthly staff meeting with management 26 August 2025 ##### [Cairde Early Learning Centre](/creche/cairde-early-learning-centre-claregalway.md), Claregalway · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) Documentation available in the form of the staff roster and the First Aid Responder (FAR) certificates on file indicated that there was no FAR trained person available in the service from 07:30 to 09:30 on the morning of inspection, posing a safety risk to the children. It was acknowledged that 2 FAR trained adults were available from 09:30 and that a person with Paediatric First Aid was available at 07:30. (2)(b) The inspectors observed the following which could potentially compromise the care of the children in the service: • There was no sterile water in either fixed first aid box in the office or in the reception area. • A total of 6 out of date triangular bandages were found; 4 in the upstairs first aid box with expiry dates of 2020-03 and 2 in the downstairs first aid box with expiry dates of 2024. • Insufficient quantities of antiseptic wipes. There was only 1 antiseptic wipe available in the service - (1) The staff roster has been adjusted to ensure a First Aid Responder trained staff member is on site during the service operational hours. An additional third staff member has been enrolled in the training course. (2) (b) The required first aid contents have been replaced and a new daily checklist is in place to monitor the contents of the first aid kit 21 July 2025 ##### [Little Wonders Creche & Montessori](/creche/little-wonders-creche-montessori-knocknacarra.md), Knocknacarra · Regulation 25 — First aid - (b) The inspector observed that the following items had expired: • A box of 8cm x 6 cm wound dressings expiry date 02/2022 • Two boxes of 5 cm x 5 cm wound dressings with expiry dates of 06/2022 and 06/2024 • A box of 10 cm x 10 cm wound dressings and an eye pad with an expiry date of 05/2024 - The following statement was received from the registered provider; - (b) All expired items have been replaced. A quarterly check will be carried out to ensure the first aid boxes are well stocked and all used items will be replaced 4 June 2025 ##### [Bright Beginnings Pre-School](/creche/bright-beginnings-pre-school-loughrea.md), Loughrea · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) On review of the 3 adult files which included the registered provider there was no one rostered with in date first aid or first aid responder certificate during the operation of the sessional service. This may pose as a risk to a preschool child. An immediate action notice was issued on the 04 June 2025 - The registered provider responded to say: On the 06/06/2025 the registered provider responded to the immediate action notice to say that that 2 staff will have first aid training. The registered provider stated in their response that they provide cover for first aid during the operational hours of the service until the staff had completed first aid training. Corrective and Preventive Action The service will ensure that a first aid responder will be on the premises during the operation of the service 26 May 2025 ##### [Happily Ever After](/creche/happily-ever-after-tuam.md), Tuam · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) There was one staff member that had acquired First Aid Responder training for children, however the registered providers could not demonstrate that a FAR trained person was available to the children at all times during the operational hours of the service - (b) The inspectors observed that the following supplies were noted to be out of date in the first aid boxes of the ECCE 2 and Playroom care rooms: • 4 x Burn Gel expiry date 19/01/2024 • 5 x 20 ml of saline water expiry date 12/24 • 5 x 20 ml of saline expiry date 12/2021 • Expired antiseptic wipes - (1) Two staff have recently successfully completed First Aid Responder (FAR) training ensuring that there is an adult on the premises trained in FAR while the children are present. In addition, a staff member returning from leave is also trained as First Aid Responder - (b) All first aid boxes have been checked and expired items have been replaced. The first aid boxes will be reviewed regularly to ensure that there are adequate supplies that are in date and fit for use 20 March 2025 ##### [Athenry Community Childcare](/creche/athenry-community-childcare-athenry.md), Athenry · Regulation 25 — First aid - 2. (b) The inspectors observed that the following supplies were missing from the first aid box: • Plasters x 20 • Sterile eye pad x 1 • Wound dressings in sizes medium x 2, large x 2 and extra-large x 2. • Sterile water 500ml x 2 • Burn dressing x 1 • Crepe bandage x 1 - 2. (b) All missing supplies have now been replaced. The first aid box will be checked on a regular basis 19 February 2025 ##### [Bright Minds Preschool](/creche/bright-minds-preschool-salthill.md), Salthill · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) (b) (1) The inspectors observed that the following supplies, with expiry dates in 2024, were noted to be out of date in the first aid box: Two large and six medium wound dressings Four eye pads Vinyl gloves Sterile water vials (2) In addition, there were no small wound dressings, and two packets of plasters had no expiry dates visible - (2) (b) (1) and (2) The first aid box has been restocked, and staff will review the box each term or as required to ensure adequate supplies are available and in date 23 January 2025 ##### [Childrens Republic](/creche/childrens-republic-craughwell.md), Craughwell · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) No adult working in the pre-school service had evidence of First Aid Responder (FAR) first aid course, it is acknowledged that four staff had a paediatric first aid training course. This may pose as a safety risk to both children and adults attending the service. This was a previous non-compliance on the last inspection on the 12/05/2022 - The registered provider stated in their response: Corrective and Preventive Action First Aid Responder (FAR) first aid courses have been booked for two staff members.
