An inspection records what inspectors saw **on one day**; services respond with corrective actions — [how to read this](/methodology.md). 19 June 2026 ##### [Buzzy Bees Montessori School](/creche/buzzy-bees-montessori-school-dublin-3.md), Dublin 3 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure a person trained in first aid responder (FAR) was available to the children at all times during the operating hours of the service. On the day of the inspection there was no staff member present who held a valid FAR certificate. It is acknowledged there was a person present with an expired certificate. This was a non-compliance on the previous inspection. The preventative action was not maintained in line with the information provided to the inspectorate following the last inspection - (a) (b) A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the available first aid boxes showed there was no burn dressings available. A suitably equipped first aid box including two burn dressings should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (1) Two staff have been registered to complete FAR over the summer months. Management will review for when this needs to be renewed. (2) (a)(b) Burn dressings were purchased for the first aid box. Management will ensure all equipment is available in the first aid box each month 11 June 2026 ##### [Little Steps](/creche/little-steps-dublin-5.md), Dublin 5 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not sure that a person trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) was available and onsite throughout the opening hours of the service. It is acknowledged that a staff member held up to date Paediatric Firs Aid with an expiry of November 2026 - (1) A second member of staff will be completing FAR training during the summer. A review of first aid boxes in both care rooms and a conversation with the person in charge confirmed there was no burn dressings available. A suitably equipped first aid box including two burn dressings should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (2) The items missing from the first aid box have been purchased and added to the first aid box. The registered provider and management have created a checklist to ensure that all items are present at all times and checked on a monthly basis 23 April 2026 ##### [Little Apples Pre School](/creche/little-apples-pre-school-dublin-15.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure a person trained in first aid responder (FAR) was available to the children at all times during the operating hours of the service. On the day of the inspection there was no staff member present who held a valid FAR certificate. It is acknowledged there was a person present with an expired certificate. (2) (a)(b) A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the first aid box showed there was no burn dressings available. A note of all training will be monitored monthly. (2) (a)(b) Following the inspection burn dressings have now been purchased and added to the first aid box to ensure compliance with requirements. Burn dressings have been added to the First Aid checklist for monthly checks 20 April 2026 ##### [Montessori Matters](/creche/montessori-matters-lucan.md), Lucan · Regulation 25 — First aid - An adult trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available to the children on the day of inspection. It is acknowledged that an adult had expired FAR training and was enrolled to update their certification - A second staff member is now FAR qualified. The service stated they were unaware that if a staff member who is FAR qualified is sick for a day that another staff member is required to have FAR. This has been rectified now, and two staff members have FAR. In addition, the service plan for a third staff member to complete FAR to ensure they are compliant if other staff with FAR are absent 13 April 2026 ##### [The Playhouse Preschool](/creche/the-playhouse-preschool-dublin-9.md), Dublin 9 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) (a)(b) Suitably equipped first aid boxes were securely stored, and clearly identifiable, in each care room. However, the first aid supplies within were not regularly checked for expiring items or replenished as required - The registered provider confirmed that both first aid boxes have been checked and replenished as required. These will be checked at least once a month to make sure everything is in order 8 April 2026 ##### [Bright Minds Childcare and Montessori School Ltd](/creche/bright-minds-childcare-and-montessori-school-ltd-dublin-16.md), Dublin 16 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The service could not provide evidence that an adult trained in First Aid Response was available at all times to the children attending the service - The registered provider stated that three staff members are currently training in First Aid Response. An additional staff member has booked into an upcoming course to ensure adequately trained staff are always available to the children 19 March 2026 ##### [Parkview Pre School](/creche/parkview-pre-school-dublin-15.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure a person trained in first aid responder (FAR) was available to the children at all times during the operating hours of the service. On the day of the inspection there was no staff member present who held a FAR certificate. It is acknowledged there was a person present with paediatric first aid. (2) (a)(b)A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the first aid box showed only one burn dressing available. This burn dressing had expired. A suitably equipped first aid box including two burn dressings should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (1) Management have rostered a FAR certified staff member for each day. Going forward if our FAR staff member is unavailable to attend work we will ensure she is replaced by another FAR certified staff member. We are also going to send more staff for FAR training. (2) The out-of-date burn dressings were removed from the first aid box and replaced with new ones. Management carried out a full audit on all our first aid boxes to ensure we have adequate supplies and that everything in them is in date 18 March 2026 ##### [Krazy Kids & Co t/a Creative Kids & Co](/creche/krazy-kids-co-t-a-creative-kids-co-dublin-8.md), Dublin 8 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure that a staff member trained in First Aid Response (FAR) was immediately available to the children at all times during the service opening hours. Records indicated that two staff members were previously trained in First Aid Response however the certificate for one member of staff had expired. This meant that there was approximately one hour per day where there was no staff available with First Aid Responder training. sufficient number of adults must be trained with First Aid Responder training and available to the children at all times should a medical emergency arise. It is acknowledged that all staff had paediatric first aid - Staff members registered to attend a First Aid Responder training course 11 March 2026 ##### [Castleknock Day Nursery](/creche/castleknock-day-nursery-dublin-15.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) There was no documentary evidence available to demonstrate that a person trained to First Aid Responder level was available to the children attending the service during the operational hours of the service. It is acknowledged that a staff member was trained in Paediatric First Aid - No preventative or preventive actions were submitted 4 March 2026 ##### [Parkview Creche](/creche/parkview-creche-dublin-15-3.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2)(a) A first aid box was available in the Blue Room and the Toddler Room however it was difficult to access due to both boxes being tied with a tight string, this could delay staff in providing timely first aid to children. (b) In the Blue Room however, it did not contain sufficient first aid materials, for example adhesive plasters, wound dressings and sterile eye pads. If adequate first aid materials are not available, staff may not be able to respond promptly to an accident or injuries - Corrective Action (2)(a) The string securing the first aid boxes in the Blue room and Toddler Room was removed immediately. Both first aid boxes are now easily accessible to staff while remaining safely stored out of children’s reach. (b) Both first aid boxes in the Blue Room were immediately checked following the inspection. All required items (plasters, wound dressings, sterile eye pads, etc.) were confirmed to be present and in date. No shortages were identified. Preventive Action (2)(a) Staff have been reminded that first aid equipment must be easily accessible at all times in case of emergency. The manager will carry out regular audits to ensure compliance and that first aid boxes remain accessible and fully stocked. (b) Both first aid boxes have been clearly labelled and are stored in designated, easily accessible and visible locations within the Blue Room. A monthly stock checklist is in place to ensure all items are checked, fully stocked, and signed off by staff. Staff have been reminded and briefed that all first aid storage locations must be presented during inspections to ensure full transparency and compliance 4 February 2026 ##### [Giraffe Childcare Rathborne](/creche/giraffe-childcare-rathborne-dublin-15.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the first aid box showed only one burn dressing available. This burn dressing had expired in January 2026. A suitably equipped first aid box including two burn dressings should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (2) Burn dressings were ordered on the 11 February and arrived the following day. Management will do weekly checks on First Aid boxes and ensure the creche has spare in date first aid equipment 28 January 2026 ##### [Balbriggan Community Childcare](/creche/balbriggan-community-childcare-balbriggan.md), Balbriggan · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The service provided evidence that two adults were trained in First Aid Response (FAR), however, on review of the staff sign in and on discussion with staff, no staff member with FAR was available to the children from 7.15-9.00am on the day of inspection. It is acknowledged that a staff member with paediatric first aid was available to the children during this time - (1) In response the registered provider has stated that the staff roster was changed to ensure that the two staff members with FAR are on the premises at all times. Additional staff will be trained on a FAR course when a course becomes available 13 January 2026 ##### [Saol Beag Project Creche](/creche/saol-beag-project-creche-dublin-1.md), Dublin 1 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) (a)(b) A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the first aid box demonstrated that no burn dressings were available. A suitably equipped and easily accessible to adults first aid box should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (2) (a)(b)Burning dressings of different sizes were bought immediately after the inspection. The first aid box will be checked weekly. In order to support the children attending our service we will ensure that a suitably equipped first aid box is available in the premises at all times 12 January 2026 ##### [Olive’s Bizzy B’s Preschool Limited](/creche/olive-s-bizzy-b-s-preschool-limited-ballykea.md), Ballykea · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure that an adequate number of staff trained in First Aid Response (FAR) for children or Paediatric First Aid was available on the premises at all times throughout the opening hours of the service. A person trained in first aid is required on the premises at all times. An Immediate Action Notice was issued to the registered provider - Corrective Action (1) One member of staff has since updated her FAR training and 6 members have had updated Paediatric First Aid training. All certificates have been sent to inspectorate and acknowledged by same. Preventive Action (1) A notice board to note when further training is required prior to it being out of date 19 December 2025 ##### [Ready Steady Play](/creche/ready-steady-play-dublin-22.md), Dublin 22 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) An Immediate Action Notice was sent to the registered provider on 8 December 2025, as on the day of inspection, there were no adults on the premises trained in first aid for children. It is acknowledged the service responded to these concerns on 9 December 2025; however, the response was found to be inadequate. Two further opportunities were afforded to the service on 10 December and 15 December 2025. The response on 15 December 2025 was found to be adequate. This was a non-compliance on 14 February 2024, despite assurances from the registered provider during the corrective action and preventative action process - One staff member completed a FAR first aid responder course. The service will ensure that all staff have first aid training before they start work as per the revised staff recruitment policy and the service will continually monitor the dates of such certs for all staff new and old, so that they are always kept up to date and in date, always 15 December 2025 ##### [Tyrrelstown's Little Stars Créche and Montessori](/creche/tyrrelstown-s-little-stars-creche-and-montessori-dublin-15.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) On review of the staff files and the service roster it was observed that the three staff members with in date First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available to the children at all times during the service operation hours. No staff member with FAR training was available to the children from 5.15 pm to 6.00pm on the day of inspection - (1) Management will ensure the roster will have adequate staff members with FAR training available during the service’s operational hours. Additional staff are being booked to attend a FAR training course 9 December 2025 ##### [Little Blossoms Crèche](/creche/little-blossoms-creche-dublin-5.md), Dublin 5 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) On review of the staff files and the service roster it was observed that the one staff member within date First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available to the children at all times during the service operation hours. No staff member with (FAR) was available to the children from 7.30am to 9.00am and from 5.00 pm to 5.30 pm on the day of inspection. It is acknowledged that five staff members present in the service held paediatric first aid certificates - (1) A FAR certificate with an expiry date of 11 December 2025 for a person present on the day was submitted through the CAPA process. The service now has six staff with FAR this will cover the service operating times 2 December 2025 ##### [Home from Home Creche](/creche/home-from-home-creche-balbriggan.md), Balbriggan · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) On review of the service roster it was observed that a staff member with First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available to the children attending the pre-school service from 7:30-8:15am on the day of inspection. It is acknowledged that a staff member with paediatric first aid was available to the children at this time - (1) In response the registered providers have stated that the non-compliance has been rectified and a staff member with FAR will be available to the children during the operation of the service. A discussion with management and review of available documents confirmed there is no suitably trained person on the premises between 12.00-1.00pm daily. An immediate action notice was issued. (2) A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the first aid box available demonstrated that the three burn dressings on the premises had expired between 2018-2024. A suitably equipped and easily accessible to adults first aid box should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (1) First aid responder certificate has been acquired for a least one person during the hours 12pm-1pm. A refresher training has been booked in advance of FAR certificate expiration. (2) A new first aid box was ordered and arrived. This is on the risk management assessment and will be checked weekly 27 November 2025 ##### [Willow House Montessori](/creche/willow-house-montessori-dublin-6.md), Dublin 6 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) (a)(b) Whilst a first aid box was available, securely stored, and clearly identifiable, in the care room. The first aid supplies were not sufficient to meet the needs of the number of children in attendance. The contents of the box were not maintained or regularly checked as evidenced by out-of-date items contained within - The registered provider stated: A new fully equipped first aid box was purchased from a reputable supplier 12 November 2025 ##### [Dolphin House Early Years Service](/creche/dolphin-house-early-years-service-dublin-8.md), Dublin 8 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) On the day of inspection, there was no person trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) training available to the children. A person who holds in-date First Aid Responder training must be available to children at all times during operational hours of the service. It is acknowledged that six staff members held in-date Paediatric first aid training - (1) A staff member has been booked onto a First Aid Responder training course with the final assessment day scheduled for the December 15th. A training matrix has been created to monitor all mandatory training with renewal dates clearly logged. Training updates will now be booked a minimum of 3 months before expiry 10 November 2025 ##### [Copperbeech Montessori](/creche/copperbeech-montessori-dublin-18.md), Dublin 18 · Regulation 25 — First aid - A staff member with up to date First Aid Response (FAR) was not available to the children cared for in the service. It was acknowledged that one staff member had Paediatric First Aid training with an expiry date of the 2 May 2026 - (1) The dates FAR training were both booked and completed were submitted by the registered provider. Email confirmation to confirm successful completion of the training were also forwarded by the registered provider as secured from the first aid training body. In the CAPA response, as a preventive measure, the registered provider advises that FAR training for a staff member will be kept in date 4 November 2025 ##### [Koala Childcare Ltd](/creche/koala-childcare-ltd-dun-laoghaire.md), Dun Laoghaire · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) While it is acknowledged that there were three adults present during the inspection with First Aid Responder training, the roster indicated that there was no adult with in-date first aid responder training available to the children between 17:30 and 18:00 on 03 November 2025. This was confirmed by the person in charge - A staff member with FAR training will be rostered each day to cover the opening and closing of the centre 22 October 2025 ##### [The Stables Montessori](/creche/the-stables-montessori-portmarnock.md), Portmarnock · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) There was no person trained with valid in date first aid response training or with in date paediatric first aid immediately available to the children. A staff member qualified in first aid for children must be available to the children at all times. An immediate action notice was issued on the 22 October 2025 - (1) First Aid Responder raining has been booked for three staff to be completed on 18 to 20 November 2025 and the remining staff will complete first aid training after this training was completed. This should not have been the case and due to staff shortage, it has been difficult and will not happen again. Due to staff illness, the First Aid Responder (FAR) Training was postponed to 13 January 2026, however a staff member with in date FAR Training has agreed to be on the premises until the FAR Training is complete 3 October 2025 ##### [Child's Play Creche](/creche/child-s-play-creche-swords.md), Swords · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure that an adequate number of staff trained in First Aid Response (FAR) or Paediatric First Aid was available on the premises at all times throughout the opening hours of the service. A person trained in first aid is required on the premises at all times. An Immediate Action Notice was issued to the registered provider. (2) (a) There was expired antibacterial antiseptic gel and hydrogel stored in the first aid kit. This posed a risk that if administered the antiseptic gel and hydrogel may not provide the required effect - Corrective Action (1) Three staff members successfully completed the First Aid Response (FAR) course on 29 October 2025. Copies of their FAR certificates have been forwarded to the inspector. This ensures that an adequate number of FAR- trained staff are always now present on the premises throughout the service’s operating hours, thereby addressing the non-compliance and meeting the required regulatory standard. (2)(a) As the regulations do not require antiseptic gels or hydrogels to be included in the first aid box, these were surplus to requirement and removed and disposed of immediately. Preventive Action (1) To prevent recurrence, the following action will be taken. Staff files will be reviewed annually to ensure all certificates and Garda vetting disclosures are up to date. (2)(a) The manager will continue to check the first-aid kit monthly to ensure all items are within their expiry dates. Only items recommended under the Early Years Services Regulations and HSE will be included in the First Aid Kit 3 October 2025 ##### [Eco Kidz Baggot Street](/creche/eco-kidz-baggot-street-dublin-2.md), Dublin 2 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (2) A suitably equipped first aid box was not available. A review of the first aid box available demonstrated that the burn dressings had expired in March 2025. A suitably equipped and easily accessible to adults first aid box should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - The entire First Aid box review was carried out, and the burn dressings have been changed. Additional First Aid supplies were acquired for replenishment after use. A review of the first aid box available demonstrated that the burn dressings had expired. One dressing had expired in June 2022 while the second dressing had expired June 2023. A suitably equipped and easily accessible to adults first aid box should be available at all times to support the care and safety of children attending the service - (2) (a)(b) New first aid boxes were ordered and the contents were checked against the Tusla guidance to ensure everything required was present in the new first aid kit. First aid boxes will be checked by the manager 25 September 2025 ##### [Coroline's Playschool](/creche/coroline-s-playschool-dublin-17.md), Dublin 17 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure that a persons trained in First Aid Response were available to the children at all times during the operational hours of the service. It is acknowledged that the staff present had an up to date paediatric first aid certificate - (1) The registered provider stated that a staff member attended and successfully completed FAR training the day after the inspection. Their FAR certificate has been added to the staff training file. The roster has been reviewed and updated to ensure a FAR trained staff member is always present during service. Training records will be reviewed each term to make sure they are up to date. In future renewals will be scheduled at least four weeks in advance of any lapse. Should the budget allow FAR will be offered to every staff member. The person in charge will check the weekly rota to confirm FAR coverage at all times 18 September 2025 ##### [Kathy B's Montessori and Afterschool](/creche/kathy-b-s-montessori-and-afterschool-dublin-24.md), Dublin 24 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) Discussion with staff and review of staff files highlighted that someone with First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available at all times that the service is operating. The roster showed that no staff with FAR certification was going to be available between 16:00 -17:30hrs on the day of inspection. Only one staff member has FAR training and couldn’t be available for all hours of opening - First Aid Responder training has been booked for 2 staff, 1 who works 8 am – 4 pm daily and the other who works from 10.30 am – 5.30 pm daily, so there is a member of staff with FAR training on the premises all the time. Training will be booked for 2 more staff in the new year. The Manager / Assistant Manager will review the training requirements of all staff twice yearly, once before the service reopens in September and again in January of each year, to ensure all staff training is up to date and in date 25 August 2025 ##### [Little Apples Academy](/creche/little-apples-academy-blackrock.md), Blackrock · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) Discussion with staff and review of staff files highlighted that someone with First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available at all times that the service is operating. The roster showed that no staff with FAR certification was going to be available between 17:00 -18:00hrs on the day of inspection - The service acknowledge the non-compliance and have revised the staff roster to ensure full FAR coverage during all operating hours. At the time of the inspection there was no FAR trained person from 17:00-18:00. The manager, who is FAR trained is now covering this hour. To ensure full compliance moving forward we have arranged for additional staff to undertake FAR training to provide adequate cover during staff absences or roster changes 19 August 2025 ##### [Safari Childcare Kilmainham](/creche/safari-childcare-kilmainham-dublin-8.md), Dublin 8 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) A person trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) training was not available at all times. Between 16:30 and 18:30 there was no staff member with FAR training present rostered to be present. It’s acknowledged when this was pointed out the person in charge with FAR training remained in the service until close - (1) There are three staff members trained in FAR. On the day in question, the manager (FAR trained) remained in the service until close. Management are arranging for additional staff to complete FAR training, to cover unexpected absences. Management will monitor this through rota checks to make sure compliance is maintained at all times 18 August 2025 ##### [Young Explorer's Club](/creche/young-explorer-s-club-dublin-15.md), Dublin 15 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure that a staff member was trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) certification and availabe to the children attending the service. It is acknowledged that a staff member with first aid was availabe to the children - (1) In response to the non-compliance the service has stated that staff members have now obtained and submitted valid First Aid Responder (FAR) certificates. The staff roster has been redesigned to ensure that at least one FAR-certified person is always present and available to the children. Additional FAR training has been scheduled for October to expand the number of staff with certification. A system has been implemented to monitor FAR certification expiry dates, with reminders set in advance. Rostering procedures have been updated to ensure continuous FAR coverage at all times 30 July 2025 ##### [Kidd's Care Montessori School](/creche/kidd-s-care-montessori-school-dublin-2.md), Dublin 2 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The service provided evidence that one adult was trained as a First Aid Responder(FAR) , however, the roster demonstrated that the adult trained as First Aid responder was not available at all times to the children attending the service, for example on the day of inspection there no person trained in First Aid Responder between 8.00am and 8.30am and between 5.30pm and 6.00pm. It is acknowledged one additional adult is booked to complete a FAR training course 1,2,3 September 2025 and five staff completed paediatric first aid training on 26 July 2025 - (1) From 3rd of September 2025, two staff will be trained in First Aid Responder training and will rotate shifts of 8am to 5pm and 9am to 6pm. A third staff member has been booked to do First Aid Responder training in september 2025. Management will book First Aid Responder training in advance of expiry by adding First Aid Responder training check to the service weekly risk assessment 28 July 2025 ##### [Abbey Tots](/creche/abbey-tots-dublin-7.md), Dublin 7 · Regulation 25 — First aid - (1) The registered provider did not ensure that a person trained in First Aid Responder (FAR) was available to the children attending the service at all times. On the day of the inspection children were in attendance from 7.30am, however a staff member with FAR did not start until 8.30am. Following the previous inspection in July 2024 the registered provider had obtained First Aid Responder (FAR) training for a current staff member. However, the two staff members with FAR available did not cover the opening hours of the service when the children were in attendance.
