- (1) The children’s attendance records were not completed in a timely manner as demonstrated by the following: • In the Sunshine room at 09:50 am there were 12 children in attendance of which 3 were signed into the attendance record. This was brought to the attention of one of the practitioners in the care room who retrospectively completed the attendance record. • In the Ladybugs room the details of the attendance of two children had not been accurately recorded in the attendance book. One child who was present on the day was not recorded as present from 09.15am until 09:50am and a second child who was present on the day was not recorded as present from 11.30am to 11.50am. It is acknowledged that this was rectified on both occasions when the inspector brought this to the attention of staff. Contemporaneous accurate attendance logs must be maintained to support the safe evacuation of children in an emergency

- Corrective Action (1) All staff have been reminded that roll books and attendance is recorded correctly when children arrive/ depart of the service. Preventive Action (1) Management checks roll books daily to ensure they are completed properly Summary Comment The inspectors have reviewed the actions and evidence submitted. The noncompliance identified under regulation 24 - Checking in and out and record of attendance has been adequately addressed

- (1) The details of the attendance of one child had not been accurately recorded in the attendance book. A child in Junior Room 1 who was present on the day was not recorded as present from 9.40am until 14:50pm. It is acknowledged that this was rectified when the inspector brought this to the attention of staff. Contemporaneous accurate attendance logs must be maintained to support the safe evacuation of children in an emergency

- Corrective Action (1) This was discussed at the staff meeting. The importance of children attendance log on arrival and departure of the service in case of any emergencies. Preventive Action (1) Room leader will check that all vital information is logged. Summary Comment The inspectors have reviewed the actions and evidence submitted. - (1) It was noted that the arrival times of the children were not accurately recorded when the inspector commenced the inspection

- The service acknowledges that, at the time the inspection commenced, the arrival times of children were not accurately recorded. This was addressed immediately on the day of inspection, and the attendance records were updated to accurately reflect the children’s arrival times. Staff were reminded of the requirement to record attendance in real time. All staff have been informed of their responsibilities in relation to maintaining accurate attendance records. Management will carry out regular checks of the attendance records during the day to ensure they are completed in real time and remain accurate. These measures will ensure that records are accurate, up to date, and available for inspection at all times in line with Regulation 24

- (1) The details of the attendance of one child had not been accurately recorded in the attendance book in the ECCE 3 room. A child who was present on the day was not recorded as present from 9.05am until 12.05pm. It is acknowledged that this was rectified in the afternoon on review of the attendance book at 1.55pm. Contemporaneous accurate attendance logs must be maintained to support the safe evacuation of children in an emergency

- Corrective Action (1) Staff were reminded immediately that children must be signed in at the time of arrival in line with attendance and record requirements. The importance of accurate and timely completion of the attendance register was reinforced with staff. Preventive Action (1) Attendance procedures are now reinforced during daily handovers. Management will carry out regular checks of the attendance register throughout the day. Ongoing monitoring will take place to ensure compliance with arrival and departure procedures. Summary Comment The evidence submitted by the registered provider in relation to regulation 24 - Checking in and out and record of attendance has been reviewed and accepted

- (1) One child in the Toddler Room who arrived to the service at 8.43am on the day of inspection did not have their attendance recorded in the roll book until after 12.45pm. In discussion with the inspector some staff members reported that the roll book was used to confirm that all children had reached a designated safe place should an emergency occur. This posed a risk of the children not being counted in the event of an evacuation emergency or under the daily supervision routines. It is acknowledged that all children’s attendance in the service was also recorded on electronic tablet devices in each room and some other staff members reported using the tablet devices as opposed using the roll books to confirm all children were present during fire drills

- The registered provider stated the following corrective actions and preventive actions have been carried out: Corrective Action (1) The child in question had been signed in using the electronic app but not in the roll book. This was discussed at the service’s staff meeting on 13/03/2025 to ensure children are signed in on both the roll book and the electronic app and that both are brought with the staff member in the event of an emergency or fire drill etc. Preventive Action (1) Management and Room Leaders will do spot checks to ensure that all children have been signed in on both the electronic app and the roll book in the classrooms. Summary Comment The inspectors reviewed the corrective actions and preventive actions submitted by the registered providers following the inspection in relation to Regulation 24. Assurances given by the registered providers have been accepted and this will be reviewed at the next inspection

- (1) One child who was present in the Busy Bees Room on the day of inspection was not documented as being present in the service. Additionally, the 4 children in the Baby Cubs Room who arrived to the service from 7.40am to 8.40am on the day of inspection did not have their attendance recorded until after 2.00pm that day. These 4 children were also present in the service on the day preceding the inspection but their attendance in the roll book was not documented until the next day, on the afternoon of the inspection. This posed a risk of the children not being counted under the daily supervision routines or in the event of an evacuation emergency

- The registered provider stated the following corrective actions and preventive actions have been undertaken: Corrective Action (1) A staff meeting was held regarding the importance of attendance records, and all staff know that even when covering different rooms how important it is to make sure that all children are marked present according to their arrival. Preventive Action (1) The registered provider will continue to bring this subject up at the service’s monthly staff meetings and also the supervisor will do morning checks. Summary Comment Assurances given by the registered provider have been accepted in relation to accurately recording children’s attendance in the service. This will be reviewed at the next inspection

- (1) One child who was present in the Treehouse on the day of inspection was not documented as being present in the attendance register on their arrival to the service at 9.00am, as required. Instead, a staff member entered this child’s attendance into the register at 12.15pm when the inspector was confirming the number of children present in the care room

- The registered provider stated the following corrective action has been undertaken: Corrective Action (1) The registered provider has done extra checks on roll books throughout the day and continued to remind all staff to check them as well. Preventive Action (1) During the recent staff meeting, the registered provider spoke with all the staff about the importance of the roll books and being more aware of signing the children in and out as they arrive and leave the premises. Summary Comment The corrective action submitted by the registered provider has been reviewed and accepted. The non-compliance observed under Regulation 24 has been adequately addressed
