An inspection records what inspectors saw **on one day**; services respond with corrective actions — [how to read this](/methodology.md). 26 February 2026 ##### [Wild Roots Preschool Oranmore Ltd](/creche/wild-roots-preschool-oranmore-ltd-oranmore.md), Oranmore · Regulation 24 — Checking in and out and record of attendance - (1) An accurate record of each preschool child’s attendance was not maintained daily. The attendance books were poorly maintained. Several corrections were noted with a correction fluid and another time/date/name recorded. It was difficult to accurately assess the information. On the day of inspection, an accurate record of the children was not maintained. Only 10 preschool children were recorded in the attendance book labelled “ECCE children”. The remaining 9 registered preschool children were recorded in two other school age registers. Early years children that arrived at the service at approximately 11:30 were not recorded as attending the preschool session. These 9 preschool children were recorded as attending the service until 15:30 and 17:20 on dates between the 18/02/26 and the 24/02/26. This was at variance with the services drop off and collection of children policy where it stated that children’s attendance must be recorded on a daily basis. This posed a risk to both staff and children in the event of an emergency - The following was acknowledged at regulatory compliance meetings on the 01/05/2026 and the 08/05/2026. • The child attendance record books have been amended. • The service will be using an electronic childcare application going forward from September 2026. Summary Comment The inspectors have reviewed the actions and evidence submitted. The non-compliance identified under regulation 24 has been adequately addressed and will be reviewed at the next inspection 14 November 2025 ##### [Sea Garden Childcare](/creche/sea-garden-childcare-leenane.md), Leenane · Regulation 24 — Checking in and out and record of attendance - 1. There was no evidence of a check in check out record book on the day of inspection for the early years inspector or other parties listed in (3)(a)(i)-(iv) entering the service. The adults on duty were unaware if a visitors’ book was available to record the persons in (3)(a)(i)-(iv) details, date, time, name, contact details, reason for entry, the person who approved entry, time in and time out of the service. This posed a potential safety risk to the staff and children in the service - On the 23/12/2025 the registered provider advised of the following. Corrective and Preventive Action - 1. A visitor sign-in and sign-out record book has been implemented and is now available on site at all times. Staff have been informed of the location of the visitor book and of the requirement to ensure that all visitors complete the record to support the safety of children and staff 21 May 2025 ##### [Wild Roots Preschool & Afterschool Limited](/creche/wild-roots-preschool-afterschool-limited-athenry.md), Athenry · Regulation 24 — Checking in and out and record of attendance - (1) An accurate record of each child’s attendance was not kept on a daily basis. On the day of inspection, a child that was listed in the Junior playroom attendance book was attending the Senior playroom. This child’s attendance record was blank for the day of the inspection and also for the previous day. This was at variance with the services drop and collection of children policy where it stated that children’s attendance must be recorded on a daily basis. This posed a risk to both staff and children in the event of an emergency. This non-compliance was also highlighted on the previous inspection report dated the 12/11/2024 - The registered provider stated the following in their reply: Corrective and Preventive Action All staff have been informed of their roles and responsibilities in relation to record keeping. Staff will be supervised on a daily basis 20 March 2025 ##### [Athenry Community Childcare](/creche/athenry-community-childcare-athenry.md), Athenry · Regulation 24 — Checking in and out and record of attendance - The attendance records, available on a digital application, evidenced that children had not been signed out on the 18/03/2025 and 19/03/2025. This may pose a risk to a child in the event of an emergency or in the event of a child leaving the service unsupervised. In conversation, the staff member stated this was an error and it should have been completed - Staff have been reminded of the requirement of signing children in and out of the service each day.
