##### [Little Pathways Creche & Montessori](/creche/little-pathways-creche-montessori-strandhill.md), Strandhill · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels

- During afternoon sleep and rest time in the ‘Happy Clowns room’ one adult supervised 9 children aged 2 years of age sleeping on stackable floor beds. Minimum ratios of adults to children apply to children when sleeping

- In a written response the registered provider stated: A member of in ratio staff, will be rostered on to assist with the happy clown sleep (Pod 2 ) time 12.30-2pm to maintain the 1 adult :6 children ratio. This will provide adequate supervision to ensure the safety and welfare of children is always adhered too. In addition, all staff have read the Early Years Inspectorate Pre- School Service Question and Answers Document Version 6 2024 to stay up to date with guidelines

##### [Stepping Stones Childcare Ltd](/creche/stepping-stones-childcare-ltd-easkey.md), Easkey · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels

- (1) The registered provider did not ensure that the minimum adult to child ratios were provided in the service as follows: (a) In the Red Room on the morning of the unannounced inspection, one adult was observed caring for sixteen children aged three to four years. The minimum adult-to-child ratio for this age range is one adult to eleven children

- On the morning of the unannounced inspection, the staffing shortfall in the Red Room occurred due to unforeseen circumstances. One staff member was delayed in arriving to work as a scheduled appointment ran significantly longer than anticipated. In addition, two other staff members were absent due to illness. These unexpected absences resulted in a temporary period where the required adult-to-child ratio was not met. As soon as management became aware of the situation, steps were taken to rectify the staffing levels. The staff member who was late was contacted to get there as soon as possible. The service acknowledges the importance of maintaining the prescribed adult-to-child ratios at all times and is reviewing contingency arrangements to ensure appropriate cover is available in the event of unexpected absences in the future. Risk management policy has been developed to include this and if appropriate staff levels cannot be maintained the room will be closed / children sent home

##### [Once Upon a Time Montessori](/creche/once-upon-a-time-montessori-ballinfull.md), Ballinfull · Regulation 11 — Staffing levels

- (1) On the day of inspection, there were not an adequate number of adults present for the number of children in attendance. At 09:11 am to 9.20 am one adult was observed working directly with 15 children, ranging in age from 18 months to 4 years and 8 months. (2) The minimum ratio of adults to children was not always maintained throughout the inspection. This staffing level did not meet the regulatory requirements for adult-to-child ratios between 09.11-09.20 hrs

- This issue arose due to a family emergency and was resolved as quickly as possible. To help prevent similar situations in the future, another person has been added to our vetting process to provide support if needed
