# Methodology — how we read Tusla inspection reports

## Methodology

### One inspection, one day

Each inspection is a record of what inspectors found on the day of the visit. Where a regulation was not met, the service is asked for a corrective and preventive action plan, which Tusla publishes with the report — we always show it next to the finding. A non-compliance is not a judgement on a service as a whole, and many are corrected within days. Read the full report before drawing a conclusion.

### Where the data comes from

From the Child and Family Agency (Tusla), Early Years Inspectorate: the register of early years services and the published inspection reports, as of 2026-09-11. We read the three most recent reports of each service (4,346 services have at least one report we could read) and extract, for each regulation, whether it was met, the numbered findings, and the provider's corrective and preventive action.

### What we compare

Counts on county and regulation pages use the **latest report we read** for each service — not a cumulative history, which would penalise services inspected more often.

### People

We publish no personal data: no contact names, e-mail addresses or phone numbers, and no childminders (they are individuals working from home). Service names that contain the name of the contact person are withheld.

### What this site does not say

No finding listed here is **not a quality certificate**: it means only that the published reports we read contain no non-compliance for this service. Reports older than the three most recent are linked, not read.
