Limerick): what Tusla inspections found — 2 published inspection(s), non-compliances and the provider's corrective actions. ## Tiny Friends Creche Full Day · 0 - 6 Years · Limerick, Limerick · Tusla ID **TU2015LK182** · Registered since 1 January 2026 An inspection records what inspectors saw **on one day**; services respond with corrective actions — [how to read this](/methodology.md). #### Inspection of 23 April 2026 — Inspection Report Full report (PDF, Tusla) ##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child - General Safety: The following issue was identified as posing a potential safety risk to the preschool children while playing in the grassy area of the playground. • Two metal goals in the playing field which were not anchored securely and safely to the ground. This was brought to the attention of the person in charge who confirmed that this safety issue would be attended to within 24 hrs. Photographic evidence of the required safety work was submitted to the Early Years inspectorate to demonstrate that the 2-goal post were anchored to the ground within the agreed timeframe. Action submitted by the Registered Provider - : The registered provider has stated in the corrective and preventive form (CAPA) that: General Safety: The goals were anchored and secured within the correct timeframe allowed by early years inspectorate. Goals will be checked at the end of each day to make sure they are safe and secure ##### Regulation 29 — Premises - (d)The following areas in the outdoor areas were found to be poorly maintained and repaired with no cleaning/ maintenance records available to demonstrate that these areas were cleaned and maintained routinely on a weekly/ monthly basis. • The all-weather ground surface areas were unclean with leaves and mud from the ground surface and trees of the larger outdoor area. • The larger outdoor area had a section with dry earth where pieces of rocks were visible. This section had no additional covering to maintain the area for the children to play that’s unique to the outdoors. • There was a large stagnant pool of water with leaves underneath the swings making it difficult for the children to use. • The latch on the shed door was broken and the door was in need of maintenance. • Two manholes were protruding from the grassy area. • The children’s play equipment and materials was dirty with mud and bird excrement. • Broken toys were not removed and were left in open and damaged bins which were full of leaves and stagnant water. The above issues were identified as posing a potential risk to the preschool children while playing in the outdoor areas and to their physical wellbeing and development - : The registered provider has stated in the corrective and preventive form (CAPA) that the following actions have taken place: The all-weather area was powerhouse and cleaned of leaves and mud. Large rocks were removed from outdoor play area and bark ordered from landscaper evergreen landscapes. The leaves and mud was removed from swing area and soil with sand was used to fill in the large holes. The latch on shed door replaced. The manholes have now covered. The outdoor play area cleaned weekly and chairs and tables daily. A skip was ordered and all broken toys have now been disposed of and new toys have been purchased. Regular power hosing and check of broken toys and weekly cleaning sheet for outdoor have been put in place ##### Regulation not named in the report text - (1) The registered provider did not notify the Early Years inspectorate within the specified timeframe of 60 days of the following changes identified on the day of the inspection in relation to the preschool service. 1.The change in the name of the designated person in charge. 2.The change in the closing hours of operation for the preschool service from 18:15 pm to 17:30 pm - : The registered provider has submitted a change of circumstances for the following: 1.The change in the name of the designated person in charge. 2.The change in the closing hours of the operation for the preschool service Found compliant: Regulation 9, 11, 19, 25. #### Inspection of 5 December 2024 — Inspection Report Full report (PDF, Tusla) ##### Regulation 23 — Safeguarding health, safety and welfare of child - Infection Control: 1.There was no hot water in the service on the day of the inspection for the effective washing of hand. This may increase the risk of infection for the children and staff. It is acknowledged that service was aware of the situation. Safe Sleep: 2. Two cot mattresses in the baby sleep room require replacement as they were not firm and were well worn and pose a risk to the safety of sleeping children. Fire Safety: 3. The fire exit door leading from the hallway near the baby room was partially blocked by shelving, leads, flexes and Santa Claus. This posed a risk to the safety of both staff and children should the building need to be evacuated in the event of an emergency. Action submitted by the Registered Provider - : The registered provider stated in the response that: 1.Work on the heating system is under way but the completion date is not known for now ,work is currently ongoing. Regular servicing of the heating system, boiler and water temperature will take place in the service. 2.The two-cot mattresses were replaced in the cot room. The mattresses are firm and breathable. The service will ensure that the mattresses and cots are checked regularly when deep cleaning the sleep room and when inspecting the cots. 3.The fire exit door was cleared of all the equipment and materials to ensure the area is clear in the event of an emergency ##### Regulation 29 — Premises - (d) The paintwork was chipped and poorly maintained on the skirting boards in the Montessori room upstairs and on the stairway leading up to the Montessori room. This was highlighted in a previous inspection dated the 16th of March 2023 - (d) Painting commenced over the Christmas break and will be ongoing over a period of Saturdays when the service will be closed. The Montessori room upstairs and the stairway leading to the Montessori room will be the main priority.
